In April I started my first "real" post-college job and ever since, I'm unable to sleep past 8 am.

Last night I was out playing poker until almost 4am. I woke up this morning at 7:46 and could not go back to sleep.

Just 4 months ago, I had no problem sleeping until noon. What has happened to me!?!

How can anyone sleep past 8am anyway. Your just wasting the day away to get things done or go play.

My body knows when it's the weekend. I can't sleep in on weekdays anymore, but sometimes I won't wake up until 11AM or noon on weekends.

I'm the same way. Towards the end of college I'd skip 11 am classes because they felt too early. Now, unless I've been drinking heavily the night before or am on the verge of collapse from exhaustion I have a hard time sleeping past 8:30. There are many nights that I'll hit the sack at 4-5 am but still be awake 3 hours later.

I think I need to black out my windows and paint my room black. Maybe I can trick my body into sleeping more.

Lol, kinda the same thing happened to me. I found a summer internship a couple of week ago, and now I'm waking up at 9am even on the weekends (usually it would be 1-2pm). Oh well.

Staying up late, waking up early and taking a nap in the afternoon is the way to go.

Sleep cycle of champions baby.

amen. my roommate went so far as to schedule herself (she's only working part time right now) so that she has a 3 hour break between shifts so she can take at least a two hour nap in the middle of the day if necessary.

Can't sleep past 830AM anymore, even after a night of heavy boozing. It's a real pain.

Wait until you have a kid, I get up at 5:30 to 6:00 am for some reason. I think they must add 5 virtual years to your age per kid or something.

That happens to me too. I'll wake up before 7 and beat my alarm clock most weekdays. Weekends I wake up at noon.

exactly. I wake up at 4am during the week for work. By 6am on the weekend. If I sleep any later than that I feel as if my whole day is wasted.

I haven't used an alarm clock in 5 years. My body automatically wake me up at 6 am everyday(most of the time is because my bladder is about to bust!), even on weekend. Even when I'm drunk or hung over or have only slept 2 hours, I still end up waking up around 5 am - 7 am.

I wish I could. Working 8 to 5 doesn't really allow for afternoon naps.

Very common problem as your body's internal clock adjusts to keeping "work hours"...For many years, I got up between 0230 and 0300 6 days per week...IF I could sleep to 0600 on my day(s) off, I felt like I had REALLY slept in..nowdays, (since I'm no longer working) I'm up till 0200-0300 and sleep till 10 every day...
Going back to school this fall for the first time in over 30 yrs is going to be quite a change for me...

thank goodness I woke up this morning at 8 because I feel asleep while I was studying for my final last night. I was about fit in 1.5 hour of crammed knowledge before the final.
