I can't see the point behind getting married nor having kids.

Way to backtrack, Rev. Anyone reading your self-contradictory posts can see you for what you are. This is no longer worth my time. Thus I'll answer your continued attempts to save face with emoticons! :gift:

Sorry, I already beat you to the "Everyone can see you for what you are, this is no longer worth my time" line. Try again. ;)

I didn't read through the entire thread, just the bits with Sampson vs. Mr. $100 K/year.

To the OP:

Your parents just want to know that you will have a wife and kids to take care of you when you get older, that you'll not be lonely and carry on the familial tradition of celebrating the good things in life. Your friends are going to eventually meet people and get on with their lives. You'll be left twiddling your thumbs and drinking beer all by your lonesome. Your views on this will totally change once you meet the right person. A year ago, I was very anti-marriage, anti-kids. My views on that are changing. I think people are too fast to get married, though, and I also think that a lot of people think it's the next logical step in a committed relationship. Not so, my friend. I have a friend who's been engaged two or three times.

small little math primer;

2 parents have two kids is NOT a stalemate.

2 parents have two kids at 25 years old. Those two then have two more at 25 years old. Those two then have two more at 25 years old. The original two die at 75. Net gain = 4 people.

Youre technically correct, but you are conveniently ignoring the fact that the parents and grandparents of the two parents in question will likely die before the two parents themselves die. Therefore, overall net gain = 0, with the assumption that each generation has had only two children. 2 children is called the "replacement rate" for a reason.

But you get an E for effort.

A better place for who or what? I'm confident that if "this world" were capable of considering it, we would be it's proudest accomplishment (so far).

doesn't the replacement rate have to be slightly above 2 due to unforseen accidents (i mean death)

many countries in Europe are under 2 (they keep afloat through immigration) as is Japan

and to the OP, I think you just have to wait until the group of women your meeting are closer to your frame of reference

almost all the girls at my university bore me to death

though from that wikipedia article, you do sound a bit asexual

to the poster who posed the question why can't you have sex while driving a m6 or playing with your rig... LOL

and the 2 arguing over the 23 pages (for me), its been amusing

2.4 is roughly what you need to keep your population the same iirc. So yeah, a little bit above.

Just to irritate you apparently. I actually didn't notice the date before but thanks for the kind words nonetheless. I'll be sure to send you a Christmas card next year.
