I can't remember the last time someone called me by my first name

Dari

Lifer
All my friends and colleagues call me by my last name. My wife calls me Bacon (because I love the stuff). People that I randomly meet in the street call me Chief (this has been happening since childhood). My family members have a nickname for me.

You might be better off.

Does it really matter?
It could just be that your first name is just stupidly common where you live.

Where I work nearly everyone is called by their first name from those just starting out to the CEO.
Even in the small area I work there are many people with the same first name as me.

Why is that?
I think it's cool when people think up alternative ways of addressing you. Wouldn't it be a little boring if everyone called you Dave or something? Have fun with people.

wassup with people calling each other "boss"?? is that from a tv show or something

Fantasy Island? I think it's a sign of respect. Has nothing to do with "white ghetto".

Nah, my first name is not common.

sup chief, i could dig that, i'll call you chief 🙂

i've went by my middle name since childhood, my father is Rick

I've always been Takumi. Hockey teammates call me Ase (The first part of Asian). Some friends choose to call me Kumi (usually gals)

Boss does have a kind of southern trailer park flavor. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the people that use it tend to be a bit... off.

Anyway, tards always have and always will try to shorten my name to buddy up with me. They will also assume my actual name is the short version of something else, and call me that. Either way, I ignore them if they aren't worth my time and give them a dumb look if they are. My name is what I give you when I introduce myself, retards. :colbert:

Unless that alternative way of addressing you is "Stinky buttfuking beautiful being", or something like that.

Unless the person being addressed is a flaming gay hippy that doesn't believe in soap. In that case they might think it is a fun nick.

This thread gave me a flashback to a great David Allan Coe song.

Chorus:
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain
But you don't have to call me "Darlin' ", Darlin'
You never even called me by my name.
