I can't logon as an administrator anymore.... need help

I was trying to figure out how to get rid of the logon screen when I start up WinXp. I tried creating an new username... but now I can not find my old administrator name on login.

What do I need to do to login as my original administrator....?

Thanks

This is unF*cking believable. I can no longer login in as administrator.... it is not showing as one of the username options on startup.

I also can not see any way to add another username under the control panel and "user accounts". Adding another user is no longer an option.

Should I start copying my files from the "c" drive partition and reinstall WindowsXP.

I am really pissed as now I will lose all of my installed software and options, etc..

This sucks!

Ok... I figured it out.

But.... I am curious... is it a bad idea to login as administrator...? In the unlikely event that a trojan makes it onto my system.... would it be safer to be logged in with limited system change abilities?

Anyone?

You should create a "power user" and login with that account. Keep the admin for backup purpose. Just make sure to set account & PW to not expire. 😀

I had same problem while screwing around with user accounts. Lost my adm and all my settings. A system restore to a date before the screwing around brought my adm. back as it was before.
