Hi,

i am using windows xp
i can't go into safe mode, i have been hitting the "F8" key since the machine start, but seems the keyboard is sending no signal to the machine.

When i press the caplock or numlock key, the light won't go on or off.

my keyboard is the Logitech wave design so it is rather new in fact i bought it 2 months ago.
When i am forced to run into windows, then the keyboard works no problem at all.

what is the problem?

Might need to enable legacy support for USB keyboards or something like that? Just a wild ass guess.

I had the same problem with some USB keyboards on a gigbyte p35 board. I have to plug in a PS2 keyboard.

Things like this are why I universally hate USB keyboards, and why mobo manufacturers still put PS/2 ports on their boards.

LEGACY not LATENCY.

Legacy Support in the BIOS allows the USB device to be used before drivers are loaded in Windows. If this is turned off the USB Devices will not be usable until after Windows loads the drivers. This sopunds like your problem to me also.

Check the BIOS USB Legact Support setting. The keyboard is probably fine since it works in Windows after it loads the USB Drivers.

USB Keyboards work fine as long as the BIOS supports Legacy USB.

Yep, just needs to be turned on, but ironically you'll need a ps2 keyboard to do it...
