Hi everybody !

I've just bought an optical mouse (the microsoft intellimouse optical) , and I can't get it to work with win2k. It works fine under 98SE, but when I install Intellipoint 3.2 (the last version on microsoft.com), it forces me to install the PS/2 intellimouse driver... But my mouse is USB !

I bought it OEM, so I don't have the little adpater to put it on PS/2... But it should work on USB with 2k ? no ?

The mouse is properly detected when I plug it (I got the "new hardware found" window... ), but I don't have any driver for it on USB... And Intellipoint forces me to install the PS/2 version...

Can someone help me ?

PS : sorry for my english, i'm french, and I think it's full of mistakes... Sorry :)

1) make sure you have a regular mouse attached first, then boot into windows

2) plug the usb mouse into the usb port WHILE your in windows (do not plug the mouse in and THEN boot windows up)

these two tips work for me, usb mice can be weird

euuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, it's not even recognize without intellipoint...

I think I miss a .inf file that allows win2k to recognize it...

If you have it, can you send me it please ? it should be named Ipoint.inf or so...

The only version I have is only for win98...

Thanks a lot :)

Sohcrates > I tried what you said. But without result. The only version of Ipoint.inf I have does not support win2k...

The fact is it's properly detected as Intellimouse optical USB... but win2k does not have the driver, which seems not to be furnished with intellipoint...

Can someone send me the right version ?

Thanks a lot...

email : leiench@caramail.com

I thinks it must be it...

It's only a small .inf file... please...

I tried 3.1 and 3.2...

In fact, I finally got it to work...

Someone sent me the right .inf file, which one I wissed because I don't have the original CD of installation, I bought an OEM mouse...

I proceeded with installation, and finally, it worked...

Thanks everyone !
