I just picked up a external cdrom for my dads laptop and I cant find drivers for it. So far it just looks like a case you can slide any cdrom into. Also it has been awhile since I have used anything parallel, when you start up your computer does it automattically detect the device or do I have to go to add new hardware.

The drivers are going to be specific to the brand/model of the enclosure.

There is no such thing as 'generic' drivers as there is no standard for parallel port drives.

Well isnt that great, I poped open the case and it is a toshiba cdrom but there is no mention of the maker of the enclouser.

There isn't a sticker or anything on the bottom of the drive with some kind of number?

By drive I mean enclosure.

There are 2 stickers on the bottom, theyare both just bar codes with the numbers under the bars, there might be a name on the PCB on the inside but I didnt have a chance to look. I just though there would be a simple driver that works with all cdrom over the paralell ports, kida like the drivers for the win98 boot disc.
