or am I just picky as hell?
I want a plain case, that cools well, has ample storage (internal 3.5" bays).
No side window, no freakign lights and lazer show all over the place.

jsut venting I guess, but open to any suggetions too

Antec SLK3000-B! Or just about any of the 3000 series. Or the Evercase 42x2 series. They both have over 95% of it right and are modestly priced. It's a travesty that most high end cases don't touch these for cooling and noise potential. The Athenatech A600 series is pretty nice too - I don't care for the sidesaddle drive arrangement but some do.

If cooling and silence/ functionality is your thing, then check out the upcoming antec p180. Some think it looks great, others, well... they dont... I agree with your philosophy, though, I think plain, simple cases are very se*y. Give me a pm if you find something interesting, I would be glad to know of a case that meets such requirements.

http://www.evercase.com And there are some reviews of the 4252 on silentpcreview.com one as part of an Arm prebuild and one separately. I thought they reviewed the 4292 as well as part of a prebuild but I can't find it now.
And newegg is about the only one that carries many Evercase. It's the 42x2 chassis that's inside the Asus Vento - if that make any diff. I have found one other place that has a few via froogle.

I too am in love with the Lian Li cases. I now have three of them. Light, good looking, and two fans to cool the hard drives. Great fit and finish. Alunimum (never could spell that) cases seem a little flimsy at first but they cool well and look beautiful. With or without windows. I also love the CDROM ali. covers that you can buy. They work great and give a professional look to the front. Ali is also easy to cut and bend if needed.
I hate covers that you have open just to get to your optical drives! I hate heavy cases. I hate disk drives stuffed into too small an enclosure with no cooling. I hate large cases that make it impossible to reach the wires. I hate power and reset buttons that are too small or are covered up. I hate fumbling with small screws. I hate case fans that are hard to reach or clean or poorly positioned. Hmm, I guess I too am picky.

i need to get a custom case: as many fans as possible, replace the extra hdd slots and cd rom drive slots (since i only have one hdD/ 2 cd drives) with huge fans, and have a very good airflow. nothing else. but no case is like that! wahh.

I have the same taste in cases and I ended up buying a Silverstone TJ04 a few months ago...but I've concluded that it's basically just a cheap case with a nice looking front bezel. It does have 120mm cooling fans (1 intake, 1 exhaust), but there's no real airflow because the front air intake is limited to a small opening underneath the front bezel and if you set the case on a carpeted floor, that opening is completely blocked off. Then again, nothing is overheating and I'm not into overclocking, so I guess the airflow is good enough.

Antec SLK worked for me. only thing i wish it had firewire and audio jack up front. i'll prob try and buy some transfer panel thingy. the two 120mm fans are nice n quiet.

I just purchased a CoolerMaster CM Stacker and I must say it is not only the best case I have ever owned but it is the first case I have ever been totally satisfied with.

Here's a review.
