The only time I do 65 is when it's like 2-3am in the morning and I'm driving back home. At this time, there is virtually NO traffic so keeping at the speed limit on the fast lane is cool since people who drive fast just go around. However, during the day, I do like 80 mph cause no one here on 880 goes 65. Oh yeah...Interstate 880 (Bay Area) is considered the 2nd worse freeway in the country. The 405 down in Southern CA is rated #1.

I hate the 405..

Seriously, can you? Unless the freeway is clogged up, I can't see myself doing 65, it seems like I'm freaking walking. I'm very comfortable at 80~85, and I feel perfectly safe and in control. Isn't it time to up the speed limit?

you feel safe and in control at those speeds, but are you comfortable trusting strangers with your safety and their control at those speeds?

Yes, but the slower people or the people that are not comfortable at those speed can still drive on the right side of the freeway. That way, at least they'll be forced to go the speed limit (if they stay on the left side of the freeway), which is at least 10mph higher than it is now, and I can live with that.

I usually go with the flow of traffic ....
If it's not congested ... usually between 80 and 90 (speed limit 65)
when its congested ... usually between 0 and 15

EDIT.... corrected spelling of limit

Do not know how it is like in other places, but in the area I live most places it is hard to speed much due to traffic (unless you drive at non-rush hours).

Places where traffic is light enough to speed on are usually clocked by the police for revenue. Since the main highway is outside of the city borders, the local cops have to rely on city roads for cash.

Personally I do not see the need of owning a car that goes from zero to speeding ticket in 5 seconds.

I never go over 10 mph of the speed limit on an Interstate highway. You get busted for 20 over in my state u r fvcked!

Ausm

Yeah, 20 over in this great state can get you in a whole bunch of trouble. At that magic number, its up to the officer which ticket(s) they want to issue. Wreckless driving, Driving with intent to kill, excessive speed, etc. AND, you can be arrested.

as an officer in "this great state," there is no such thing as driving with intent to kill. possibly reckless driving, or recklessly endagering safety. driving with intent to kill would imply you want to kill someone.

most of my collegues give a 10-15 mph cusion.😉
