I'm looking for some patio strings lights - specifically warm light, LED G40 with PLASTIC bulbs (not glass). This apparently does not exist which boggles my mind.

Tons of people use these G40 lights to hang over their deck/porch at night. I don't want incandescent as that just seems like going backwards in progress, and I don't want glass bulbs as that just seems dangerous to leave outside hanging from a tree/house all the time (we get crazy weather here in WI and I don't want shattered glass all over my yard/deck).

So ATOT, can you find what I apparently can not?! I challenge you!

I just googled for : "plastic bubl led G40"
It is the typo that makes it work. :)

First hit :

White .5-Watt LED G40 Globe Light Bulb, Shatterproof, E12 Candelabra Base
PaperLanternStore presents the next generation LED light bulb. No more broken glass with our shatterproof bulb. Made from industrial polycarbonate, you can feel confident they will withstand the wear and tear from wherever location you install them. Our shatterproof bulbs are super-bright as well and have an great globe look. Worried about the risk of broken glass and replacing glass bulbs? Use these shatterproof plastic G40 bulbs as replacements in your existing string lights for your Wedding ceremony. These plastic G40 bulbs have a standard E12/C7 base so they will fit into any existing string lights with a E12 candlelabra base.
We also have more Standard Bulbs and Globe Bulbs for your lighting needs.

Yeah but that's not the string. That's just replacement bulbs. "White" likely does not mean a warm hue either :(

Maybe I'm just being unreasonable... I just thought something like this would exist.

It's hard to find good quality stuff now days. Anything you do find is probably going to be super cheap and flimsy, and probably not UV resistant so it will start to get brittle over time.

That is a good one. Polycarbonate on its own is not uv resistant. It needs special fillers to make it uv resistant.

It's probably not reasonable to specify a high quality plastic product. Anything made to last will have a glass envelope which will be relatively impervious to UV, unlike plastics like polycarbonate. I believe the challenge would be to fasten the string in such a way that damage would be more rare, and to simply keep some replacement bulbs and a dustpan on hand.

edit: found one, maybe... no name one with replaceable e12 g40. comes with shatterproof plastic ~0.6W LED warm white 0 reviews ~$42

----------------
other options
Phillips branded w "g40" bulb covers; it actually uses christmas type lights, so unlikely to be bright enough ~$13
https://www.target.com/p/philips-25...VB7bACh1CDgVZEAQYAiABEgJv3_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Cheapo chinese one w remote; leds don't appear replaceable ~$13

Could probably buy an incandescent (~$15) or LED string (~$30) with replaceable bulbs and get warm white LED replacements
Apparently paperlantern sells 1W bulbs (~$1.80 each+shipping) in addition to the typical 0.5W

though amazon has 25 packs of 0.5W for ~$20.
