Lower price would probably just mean THAT many more gold farmers.

Not the same game. You're referring to WoW. He's referring to the RTS series.
I agree, 40 bucks still for that game. I lost my CD case once and couldn't install due to the key missing. I figured i'd just buy a new copy considering the game is old... saw the prices and went back home to search harder for it and eventually found it.

That's probably the lowest price for a retail copy.

There are also websites that sell the CD-keys for less than that, if you're willing to take a risk.

More often than not I see it on sale at Target and Walmart for 2o bucks (the battlechest).

OFF TOPIC:
I really wish they would put the old Blizzards on Steam. Like D1, WC1 and 2, Lost Vikings, etc.

As much as I hate seeing high prices for old games, you have to hand it to Blizzard. Even after nearly a decade (or more for some games), they still have tens of thousands playing.

I STILL have no trouble finding 4v4 matches for WC3: TFT. The few times I've played 1v1 or DotA lately I had similar experiences.

Yea I know they are all awesome games but damn it's a 7yr old game.

Blizzard games usually stay overpriced for their age.

Lets not forget though while the price is expensive Blizzard does a better job of supporting their games then pretty much anyone else. I mean SC and WC3 still get patches. WC3 is one of the few games that is worth the $40 price tag.

I think they were actually cheaper a couple years ago. This seems to happen with some games. They drop in price after the first year or so once it's "old," and then the prices start to go up as people realize that it's held up well over time. Of course, with Blizzard they sell the game digitally so you don't have the same lack of supply that you do with older, out of print games (which is more of an issue with console games anyway since you have to have the disc).

Never going to happen. Battle.Net is going to be Blizzard's digital distribution service so no way they'd pay the competition to distribute their game as well.

Man, last time I checked even starcraft battle chest was still $30. Same Diablo.

As some one else mentioned, they don't just abandone these games after 1-2 years like everyone else though.

It amazes me when I start up starcraft like twice a year and get hit with a patch.

Warcraft III is still worth every penny, I'd say bar-none its the best value I've ever had for gaming... due to the variety of custom maps, and blizzard's crazy powerful map editor, there are thousands of hours of playtime waiting there

What amazes me even more is how many people still play WC3: The Frozen Throne on battle.net. The game still has quite the following.

I played the shit out of this game, I still think its worth $30, but I'd spend it on Generals now instead of WC3
