I cannot find a good house to buy...

Love the low cost of my condo, but for the same price +20-30k I can get a nice house right now... I have had this condo for 2 years, it's made 25k in equity already...assuming it sold for the list price.

But when I look for houses, man, they are all way to similar...nothing stands out anymore. I look online and nothing looks good at all...I mean, yeah...I could live in them, but they just aren't unique...oh well...guess I will just keep looking...

outside of living in it? Uniqueness??? When I get a house, I want to live there for 10-15-20 years, not just move out.

Look for older houses that need fixing up, but you can see a lot of potential/character.

If the houses were full of weird shit, its probably been removed so that it can be sold. It sounds stupid, but people will not buy houses just because of odd color choices in the rooms sometimes.

And it isn't particularly cheap to replace floors and kitchen stuff so you have to plan to be there for a long time if you want something really weird.

You'll have to look to older neighborhoods with mature landscaping and before the times of mass developer "planned" communities.

i love older houses, i grew up in one but man are they work.

im not much of a carpenter/craftsman.
my father loves doing it, id rather be out in the boat in my free time.
i agree they are sweet if you have the $/time/knowhow/passion to fix them up but its not for me

I would not mind an older 1800-1900's house at all...I guess that's the feel I am looking for, but not much in/around the twin cities, except for in the outskirts (I went to a birthday party with the GF in her old town...damn that house was just neat!)

$$$ and any decent plots would be far to outside the cities...but i am also looking at plots.
