Cliffs:
I meant to send a message about my boss to my coworker.
I accidently sent that message to my boss while he's out of the room in a meeting.
I freak out.
I restart my bosses computer in order to get rid of the message.
Now I wait for my boss to come back and hope he doesn't use an IM program that logs history of messages.

Discuss. And expect an update soon for when my boss comes back to see the aftermath.

UPDATE: I'm okay, and distracted him as he logged in. Everything is cool.

lesson learned: don't send emails talking behind people's back. they can easily come back to bite you in the butt.

No worries. I'm sure he talks %$#@ behind your back too. "Yea that idiot Alienwho, always chattin' on Anandtech and screwing up people's computers and then lying about it." :p

My original plan was to just leave and go talk to some people and leave my computer unlocked, then when he gets back i'd claim I wasn't around the computer and that somebody haxed my system and sent that message to him in a conspiracy to get me fired. I figured the reboot would take a little less lying and less complication on my part.

Also, I wouldn't say that he's my boss as much as the team lead that i'm currently on. Not to mention he doesn't like most other people here and they certainly don't like him, so he couldn't can me by any means. He's just an semi-authoritive figure i'd rather not have hate me.

No update yet, I don't know where he went, to lunch or something maybe.

My backup plan is to say it was a cry for help and I originally wanted him to see it. Then I decided it was a bad idea so I freaked out and rebooted his computer planning on just talking to him about it man to man.

What e-mail client are you using? Does it have a recall function?

Look in your sent messages folder to see if you can recall the message.

Tell us what you said. Maybe we can help you think of a better excuse... or at least get a good laugh.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about an IM.
