I cannot access user accounts?

I try to access my user account I got a weird message, and I cannot get into user accounts. The message says "wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment". the main reason I was trying to access user accounts is because when I tried to grow into Windows updates it gave me a message to right-click the information bar to install an ActiveX component. The information bar was not there and Internet Explorer gave me a hyperlink for solutions and it told me to go into user accounts. but anyway, I would appreciate some help.😕
 
Go into SAFE Mode, and login as administrator.
Then do what you need to do - DON'T take away any permissions from admin otherwise you will be stuck.
 
Do you get a blank window for 'Search'? Some web pages are blank (www.rr.com?)? Registry permissions are screwed (may not notice this)?
Help and Support is blank? Cannot open Task Manager? Scripten.exe will not install (microsoft vb script)?

Scan for virii, malware etc. Somebody on here has a good guide to cleaning.

I have seen a few PCs recently with similar symptoms. All had Vundo.trojan, among others.
I was able to get them back up and running by getting them CLEAN FIRST, and then a repair XP install.
It is a labor intensive process to do right, and you can easily take two steps back if you are not careful!
You may want to consider a backup and reformat. It would be quicker and much easier.

Maybe this is not the same issue. I hope not for you!

Found this for you:::::::


Open your notepad or word processor and copy and paste the following:
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 nusrmgr.cpl
regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll
regsvr32 themeui.dll
regsvr32 Vbscript.dll

This will re-register the above dll's etc in the registry. Save this file as "User Acct Fix.cmd" on your desktop to easily find it. Click on "User Acct Fix.cmd" on your desktop to run the program. Now see if now the User accounts are visible. If not, use the below to ensure you have a good copy of the above dll's on your PC and rerun "User Acct Fix.cmd".

Method 1: Use Expand File in Msconfig.exe
To use Expand File in Msconfig.exe, follow these steps:1. Insert your Windows XP installation disk into your CD drive or DVD drive.
2. Click Start, click Run, type Msconfig, and then click OK.
3. On the General tab, click Expand File.
4. In the File to restore box, type the name of the file you want to expand. Or, to locate the file you want to replace, click Browse File, and then click Open.
5. In the Restore from box, type the path from which to restore the file. Or, to locate the source file you want to expand on your Windows XP installation disk, click Browse From, and then click Open.
6. If the Save file in box is not already populated from step 4, type the path to which you want the file to be restored. Or, to locate the destination folder you want to expand the file into, click Browse To, and then click OK.
7. Click Expand.




But a virus scan is probably the way forward - silly me.
 
the problems seemed to be was that I was missing OLE32 registration.I got that from the Google search that montag451 did. oh, I just tried to get into my user accounts and when I click on user accounts the hourglass just spins and nothing happens. It seemed to have solved the weird message. Thanks a lot for your help.
