I can ping but cant tracert

hi, i am trying to use tracert but all i get is " 1 * * * Request timed out." but i can ping the sites and surf to them. anyone have any ideas what would cause this? I assume its a setting in the router because it happens on more than one computer.

here is my setup

WinXP Pro (2 different cmputers)
Linksys router
cable modem.
no firewall like sonealarm or any of that stuff installed.
 
I have the exact same problem and came looking for answers...
WinXp on one, 98SE on the other... Linksys router (BEFSR41), cable modem... can ping fine, but can't tracert (with any program...)
anyone have answers for us?

YUP. Upgrade the firmware. I have same router, had same problem...upgraded firmware, problem gone. Had to do the upgrade twice for some reason though.

never noticed that problem before.. but im running the latest firmware on the befsr41 on win2k pro and tracert works fine..
