I can own a firearm now! Can you?

Got my FOID card today. Only took two weeks to get it from the date I sent it in. Pretty quick, cause they said 6-8 weeks.

Whats FOID card? Must be something local to you.

All I know is the California DOJ has some long cooling off period which makes you more pissed. Not good when you really want your firearm.

My 15 year old brother has a shotgun, two rifles, and a 75 lb compound bow with broadheads in his room.

I think you're a little behind.

FOID in an Illinios thing thing. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

And Viper...he can have them in his room, but he cannot own them as far as I know. If they go off or injure someone, itso your parents responsiblity.

Some states allow children to hunt. Don't know who the gun owner would be though.

Is a shotgun used for hunting? I didnt know blowing a hole the size of a head in an animal is considered hunting.

True, he does not technically own them, but he might as well.

I've got a C&R FFL on the way. Most of the stuff I have right now is modern. My first C&R stuff is CMP issued:

Springfield Armory Service M1 Garand
Harrington & Richardson Service M1 Garand
Winchester Service M1 Garand
Springfield Danish M1 Garand with VAR barrel
Remington M1903A3/S

I know no one asked, just thought I'd brag a little :p

And for those looking for 30-06 ammo you can grab Danish bandoliers full of rounds on clips for about $0.25 a round (~$12 a bandolier). Try midway and the other ammo places.

How do you think you shoot down a duck? With a scope mounted on a large bore rifle?

Have you ever fired a shotgun?

Many things are hunted with a shotgun, particularly small game. Plus he has slugs for it, so he could hunt deer with it if he wanted.

Im assuming he knows about gun safety as well. Which is a big plus...I dont like reading about kids who shoot themselves or their friends because they're parents dont lock them up and/or they dont know what it can do. Just to be sure, I'd have him register when he turns 18 though. :)

I've owned my own rifle since my great grandfather gave it to me when I was 12. It's not registered with the State and never will be.

Now that I'm 21, I'll be getting a conceiled handgun license and purchasing a .45cal.

Nice state of lock down you live in there, even worse then California it seems that you need a card to own a gun. What did you have to do to get the card the same thing as me when I buy one instacheck? Gotta love the lag time you had to wait.

Here anyone can walk into a store and as long as they pass the NICS you walk out with it right then. If you have a CCL/P then you can walk out with a pistol, no wait. Local LE is good with class 3 stuff, just gets held up at the federal level.

I had to fill out a form and send it in to the IL state police. Since I am under 21, my dad co-signed for me and boom, here I am now. Cost 5 dollars for processing.

Of course. His guns have trigger locks, which he keeps the keys for.

On a side note, check out this line in Oregon's concealed weapon requirements:

From here

Application for a license to carry a concealed weapon is made to the sheriff of a county who shall take fingerprints and a photograph and shall issue the person within 45 days of application a concealed handgun license if the person:

...
7) Has never been convicted or found guilty of a felony, except for insanity

Obviously you were never in the military Omega, a .50 is not an anti-personnel weapon it is used for equipment, too much TV for you. Gun laws, whats that? All we have here are the federal ones, no state ones added. If you can own a handgun you and carry, and look at the crime rate here in VT much lower per population then any other state. When the criminals know that the citizens could be armed they think twice about crime. Look also at Texas and the many other states with easier CC laws.

I think my joke was missed. Oh well.

As far as CC, I support it, because I've done projects on it before and it has shown to reduce crime rate. My state, however, does not allow it.
