For a week now, my ears have been clogged up due to an ear infection or something. Well, thanks to a CVS ear wax removal kit, I can hear!!! OMG it is so wierd. My body got used to hearing so little, now I notice every sound.

For example, when I walk around, I can hear my shirt rubbing against my skin. It is actually kind of annoying. This is one of the oddest sensations in my entire life.

I can appreciate music again. I cannot wait to clear up the other ear, so I can hear stereo. I have had a REALLY hard time hearing where things are coming from. I don't even want to start on my balance. Just getting out of bed proved difficult on a couple of mornings.

I have ear wax compacted against my eardrums, and need to see a specialist to have it removed. I can still hear better than most people. Yup, the shirt thing's annoying. mostly what bothers me is other people's breathing and hiss from speakers. I've got a good home theatre system, and can tell when they're hissing even at minimum volume. The other thing I've noticed is that there's more wax compacted against my left eardrumt ahn the right one. This is audible by a general degredation of the upper frequencies more so in the left ear than in the right. Base still gets through loud and clear, even with the wax. Sry if I grossed anyone out. Anything at a reasonable level that's been droning for awhile starts to produce a change in sensed temp in my ears(probably pain from the wax, but it's still really kewl).

that sounds really cool! would you recommend it on purpose? we do take what we percieve for granted, forgetting that actually it's our own brains determining what we pay attention to. i wonder if it works like that for vision too?

Yeah, just go to a pharmacy, and kits run around $6 (Generic).

They come with drops that help dissolve/loosen the wax, and a bulb that you squirt twater into your ear with to clean out the junk.

Clean ears are good ears. I am just waiting for my brain to start filtering all that white noise again.

If you use one of those kits, you can damage your ears by using it too often.
