well, after MUCH work, i have hammered out a schedule for the next 4 weeks, but i can feel it. it's gonna happen. i will complete my eagle project, and i will make eagle scout!!!

at significant cost to my d2 life and personal life... (oh wait, i have no personal life )

In other news, some people are arrogant asses and wont sign up to volunteer on projects that people need them to come to...

argh, i've volunteered for over 50 hours more than i ever needed to for various projects, just in the last year... what is wrong with some people that they cant sign up and help with an eagle project? oh well, i can do the work, and i have at least a few friends who WONT turn me down...

... hopefully...

Great job! Keep at it and reach your goal.

Unfortunately I didn't stick with the project work and never made it. Stay focused.

LOL

Yeah, it rained every day I was there too. Grew up in Ohio and the place I end up with borderline hypothermia....Philmont, NM. Gah! The hail wasn't much fun either. Had a great time but that rain sucked (everyday at 1:00 PM)

the highest rank acheivable in boy scouts... it's supposed to show leadership skill, bravery, and several other traits exhibited by good and effective leaders.

the Boy Scouts were created essentially to train our future military leaders in not only survival skills, but leadership skills and courage, motivation, and that kinda thing.

when you attain Eagle Scout, if you go into the armed forces, you automatically get an extra rank ahead of the other people becoming officers, and whatever. it helps you get jobs, college, and that kinda thing.

look at the people in Military Academys. A Lot of them are Eagle Scouts.

that's what an eagle scout is in a nutshell.

I do know several military guys (in the "Green to Gold" program) that joined Auburn's chapter of APhiO said that having a record of membership in a service organization would help their military careers.

I dropped out at Life Scout. The BSA requires you to believe in god (WTF?) and my troop leaders were terrible.

However I did go to Philmont and had a good time. I will never forget hiking way up high on a ridge with my metal-framed backpack during a lightning storm. The rain was freezing cold and my gear got SOAKED.

Heh, we also hiked up Mt Baldy with our packs on...that was hella cool!

Mmmmm....squeeze Jalepeno cheese :)

Well Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

As another feel good story I saved my best friends life with first aid learned in boy scouts (he would have bled to death in minutes had I not known what to do)

I also saved my wife's life from the same first aid - choking.

Philmont was pretty fun (though I probably wouldn't do it again). I went on one of those week-long treks and I don't remember it raining too much.

I've been one merit badge and a service project away from my eagle for 3 years ..

Keep working, you're almost there. I know how much work it takes (got my Eagle 6 months ago), and believe me, it's worth it.

Oh, and if you want them to help, promise food.
