I broke 4! And some Alaska pictures

I brought my new favorite toy, the Canon S400 on my recent 2 week vacation to Alaska..I'm no professional, but I tried :) I took roughly 1200 pictures (950 of which I kept), here are some pictures:

Bear! (here's where I wish I had a $20,000 camera - the zoom doesnt quite cut it

Ok, here's what I meant by broke 4 - I finished the Anchorage Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in 3:56:52, 3:56:44 chip time (the exact time, based on when I crossed the start) - about a 9 min mile pace, beat my first marathon time by 15 minutes and placed 3rd in my age group.

oh, and those "sea ceatures" are otters :)

There was a day when I'd look at pictures like that and practically wet my pants with envy and the desire to go there.

So nice to finally be here and I'll never leave!

Looks like a wonderful trip. 1200 pictures! :Q 4 hr. marathon! Damn, I get winded running to the end of my driveway. :eek:

that picture is really neat. I like how the forground is blured as you took it from a car? and the rest is perfectly still. the reflection is amazing

you dont need a 20K cam to soom. i think my olympus c720 could have gotten that bear with 8x zoom.

nice pics all around tho. I still like my SLR for takeing nature shots tho. give me a 250mm Telephoto and ooooo the fun begins

glad you had a good trip. ill get upthere some day and when i do there will be lots of pics

60/9minmile= 6.66MPH.

Awesome time on the marathon!!!! When I first saw your topic, I immediately thought "4 minute mile," but this is just as big an achievement! Congrats!!! I'd love to run a marathon but I am nowhere near the fitness level required yet. I'm running a 15K on the 13 though. :)

congrats on the marathon time. btw, it looks like you just beat out that old lady wearing hiking boots. :)
