I bought opteron 170 instead of 175, was it a good choice?

First of all, I live in Argentina. some days ago I ordered an opteron 175, was a friday, and in the weekend, reading this and a lot of forums I started to realize that paying 136 USD just to have 11xmultiplier instead of x10 (a max of 400 Mhz in an hypotetical situation 400mhzx11) wasn't worth it. I've read in too much places that opteron 170 can reach some 2.8 as max if you have luck with steppings, and so the 170, even the 165. So crossing my fingers I called at the shop on Monday (yesterday) and I could change the order and save 136. but I started to think, from what I've read, that 175 are made of better quality and such, besides the multi. And maybe that could means more lifespan and more stability at the same clock of a 170 or 165, and things like that. I am not really sure, just a though of prevention.
So I tried to change the order one more time but the 170 was already coming to me... so thats it...

Changing from 175 to 170 was a good tmove?

definitely not a bad move, and overclocking is not garenteed regardless of chip. i had a 3500+ winnie that could not break 2.45ghz and had an 11x multi. my opteron 146 now is at 2.52ghz with the 10x multi and less than stock volts. i say saving the $136 was a smart move, hell you can buy a all-in-one water cooling system for that price and then just give it more volts. i say smart move.

Typically the 170s reach about as high as the 175s, so it's just luck of the draw. I would have done the same thing.

That would be nice, but I need the money to buy the video card, I guess x1800xl or xt, becouse I wont go SLI, too expensive here. I will need some thermaltake to put a water cooling.. but here they are overpriced.

I orderder a Zalman 9500, and I will put some extra fan at it in some way. It is all copper with very very thin fins, so it gets hot really quick.

yeah, good move on spending the extra cash on the video card, definitely more worth it if you are a gamer and the zalman is a nice cooler
