I played my first mmorpg the other day, thought it was pretty cool, but lacking in the graphics department (but who cares it was free right (priston tale was the game)). Now I want to try something else. I have a gift certificate for Futureshop for $150, so I am thinking I should but at least a game then something else cool. So can anyone tell me if this game is worth it? And how much is the monthly fee in Canada? I am not going to feel ripped off after buying this am I? Oh and should I maybe try out Horizons: Empires of Istaria?
EDIT: This game looks so sweet I cant wait for the 7571 new files finish downloading and I can play it.... and holy crap thats a lot of updates.
 
Emmm... here's my experience with FFXI:
Really addicted for 2 weeks (total playtime: 59 hours), reached level 16.
Then, suddenly, no interest at all. Dunno if I'll pick it up again or not, but I'm payed up through the 20th.

Yeah that sounds about right. What about the monthly fee for horizons? Or would I be better off with ffxi? I heard that there are like 550,000 players.
 
I beta tested Horizons and it's a good game... but with MMORPG's you kinda have to play them all the time or you won't have a whole lot of fun. Well... I don't at least... cause fun to me is being really good... and you can't be good if you play on the weekends only.
 
Ok so I bought it... looks like its gonna be freaking sweet. What class and race should I be? I was thinking hume red mage, or maybe taru red mage, but I hate their stupid noses... maybe they will grow on me. There are 7571 new files that I have to download to update to the latest version of the game. Thats a lot of updates, I can see that this would make the game worth paying a monthly fee for.
 
I was a lvl 22 TaruTaru Red Mage but i played less and less on my 2nd month due to finals and away from computer... due to that i just kind of forgot about it.

So I decided to cancel it due to $14/month for occasional playing is a waste. Great game though if you have the time 🙂 I really wanted to be a summoner but it sure got time consuming

this is a internet only game right? so you can't do anything offline?i dislike games where u have to pay some monthly fee to play online:|

man...am I the only one here who really misses that Majestic game? I'm still pissed that EA didn't at least release a CD-ROM version with all of season 1 or something =(

that was a good game dammit!
