I flew to Reno last night and picked this up this morning:

1997 Lexus LX450 (80 series Toyota Landcruiser)
4" Slee Offroad lift
ARB front bumper
Slee Offroad sliders w/cat armor
Iron Pig trans plating
Kaymar rear bumper w/swingout
305/70R16 MT's
Warn 12k winch (in the back now, not mounted)
Roof basket (crunched in the back from someone driving in a parking garage without clearance)
Front/rear lockers

I like it. :awe:

But is it fast? :p

Kidding of course. Nice ride. So is it true you get a better price on the Lexus vs. Toyota? Read that in a magazine fairly recently.

Maybe not better overall, but at least comparable. I wanted a Lexus specifically for the option package and the irony of an offroad Lexus, but I also did get a really good deal.

It is the slowest vehicle I have ever owned. By a LOT.

Is it the lockers you can't get on the Toyota?

Better leather (which doesn't really matter, given it's coming up on 20 years old), Lexus soundproofing, automatic climate control (only in Lexus and..I think 40th Anniversary LCs), and a few other things (mostly irrelevant). I mostly wanted the higher grade leather (in retrospect it doesn't matter much being old; I'll want to redo it anyway), automatic climate control and more soundproofing. It has a huge sunroof, too - unsure if that's easier to find on the Lexus models or not.

Very Nice. I had a 95 Land Cruiser briefly. I assume you've been to ih8mud.com? Looks like there has been a lot of money put into that one you purchased already. Lucky You!!!

Oh yeah he's been there. I think it's the only place he's been the past 2 months.

Well, this thing sure isn't cheap to feed, but it's cheap to do everything else. 2yr emissions $27.75, 2yr registration (including $11 convenience fee for skipping the DMV office) was ~$102, and my insurance looks to be $440/yr with full coverage. :D

I think it's 26 gallons. It runs on 87 octane and I was getting about 13.5-13.7mpg highway. It's definitely not an economy vehicle (actually not bad considering it was rated for 15 and has a 4" lift, 33" MT's and hundreds of pounds of steel bolted onto it), but given its purpose I can deal with that.

I'm considering a turbo/supercharger so I can go up mountains without running in 2nd gear at 4500rpm, but that's not a huge priority.

Yeah, those 33's and the extra weight aren't going to help with performance at all either.
