Throttle got stuck and a heavy crash. Engine reved to 50k and the rod snapped! :Q
Thankfully I'm OK!

Forgot to mention the engine was in my 1/8 buggy.

No TRS on the servo?...bah neither do, only a failsafe. I have had a few WOT runaways.....but usually I get there in time before the engine separates from itself.

I had something like that happen in my first beater car - a 1978 LTD. . . doggone throttle stuck wide open.

F1 racers hit 20k RPM coming out of the PITs, dude.

Small amount of shens yes, but a 3.5cc engine in a 1/8 track car normally reaches 42k rpm.

Heh.. I once snapped the crank in my old Mustang. It was great... the oil filter went one way, and some other parts went another...

Nope, no big deal anyway. I've run 3.5 gallons of fuel trough it.
The damage report is good. Turned out everything else was OK inside so I'll just put in a new rod and I'm good to go. :)

F1 engines are full sized engines, and his engine is an RC car engine. It takes a hell of a lot of engineering to make a car engine rev to 20k rpm, but miniature engines have been able to rev that high forever. It's easy.

40,000+ rpm for a R/C car engine is normal. I remember hearing about one of those micro machines engines that they build on a silicon wafer, and it revved to over 500,000 rpm. The smaller you go, the higher it can rev.
