I was looking through my local newspaper today, when I came across this ad. Last time I checked, Nissian, Mazda, and Honda weren't making V4 engines lol.

Pic1 - Ad in question
Pic2 - Closeup
What makes the ad even more womanly is that it seems they're proud the car is only offered as an automatic

[edit] Oh yeah...Some women know stuff about cars [/obligatory]

Too bad there aren't any common sense courses here at Cornell. V configuration /= I configuration.

funny how pontiac compares its V6 offering to the the 4 cylinders from other brands. "look, our apple is bigger than their oranges" also how can they claim to have the most powerful standard V6 when its only got 200hp from a 3.5L?

Actually.

Having worked in a factory for GM assembling fuel modules for their new cars for 9 months straight, I can say that they have extremely good quality control from my experience.

Everyday auditors inspected EVERYTHING on the lines.

Even the big wigs would drop by everyonce in awhile. They also had set their own quality control office and seperate operations center for it which isn't even mandatory.

But anyways, my point is working for them in this particular plant, showed me that they have excellent quality control overall. But now when you're a worker, and you see EVERYTHING that goes on out there on the lines then ehhhhh, it could be better.

But it would cost so much to have 24/7/365 quality control on a plant that never stops running, ever, that it would be unwise to do so.

Well at least that part makes sense...GM sees them all as apples because none of the competitors' V6 versions start under $23k

Someone should print the ad and take it to the pontiac dealership and demand a test drive of a V4.... someone here has GOT to be bored enough 😉

They don't make a 4cyl G6!

Is it GM's fault that they used a V6 instead of an I-4? Or is it Honda/Mazda/Nissan's fault for not having a V6 standard car in the same price range?

It's no one's "fault". Just different marketing strategies.

there really is no point. All 4 cylinder cars are made straight. There are 5 cylinder cars that are also straight such as the Acura Vigor.

Someone better have lost pay or their job over that ad, its just plain dumb

Hey, when you got people that say you can't compare a Mustang GT to a 350Z, because it's not "fair" because the Mustang has a V8 and the Nissan doesn't...

Well those people are idiots 🙂 If you have two cars that are in the same class and similarly priced then they're fair game to compare.

There are also I6 engines.
Do you count horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engines as straight?

No, flat. Or boxer. Or H if it's a suby.

I was just wondering if he was applying the "all 4 cyls are made straight" to include those variations. Technically they're straight, in that they're not angled like a V6 or 8.
