I applied for a job -- and got a take-home skills test.

Last week I applied for a programming position at a game company. A day or two later I got an email from the person in charge of the hiring, and attached to it was a skills test. The instructions were to spend no more than 2 hours on the test, and to not look up anything that you didn't know.

I took the test last night. First off, a confession: I spent about 3 hours on the test, and I did look up a thing or two online, but nothing that I felt really affected the outcome of my answers. In spite of that, I was only able to provide answers for the first 2/3 of the questions, and I didn't really even get a chance to look at the other questions. All in all I thought the test was really hard, and it did a good job of making me feel like I'm pretty stupid in my own field. I am pretty confident in about half of my answers, but the other half I'm not so sure about.

How much weight do employers put in these tests? Obviously I don't feel like I did really well on it or anything, and I'm hoping that the employer is looking more at my thought processes than if my answers are actually 100% correct.
