Installing OS X on non Apple hardware is to my understanding, a violation of the Apple EULA, and as such you asking about it could be construed to be criminal activity on your part, and on the part of any party that decides to help you.

that being said... google is your friend, especially if you want to run OS X on X86 hardware.... and that's all I am saying.

FYI you can't just use a standard OS X disk, must obtain a cracked one, but that is beyond the scope of this post which will soon be locked.

I may have been a little wrong on the EULA, but the basic gist is there. What you are asking for, is in fact, not allowed

Where did you get the OS X DVD? The standard retail 10.4 DVD doesn't contain the Intel version of the OS. The only way to get the Intel version is to use a disc that came with a Intel based Mac. As far as I know, 10.5 (Leopard) will be the first version of the OS X that you can buy retail that will work with an Intel Mac.

It is possible though unlikely that he got it through the developer program (student or otherwise) as that is one way of getting Tiger (Intel) without buying an Intel mac.

Yes, but it doesn't matter if you can get a copy of Tiger that is compatible with Intel macs or not... the important thing is that even if you do have a copy of it (and you wouldn't have to be a student, just a member of the Apple Developer Connection) you still are not allowed to install it on a non-Mac. Furthermore, the install disc has a hardware check, and will not install onto a non-mac

I was just covering KeithP's question. I realize it is not permitted as per the EULA.
