Alright I just got my X1900XT, Opteron 165, and DFI NF4 Ultra-D tonight but guess what I forgot and was 100% positive would be comming with one of these peice of hardware?

A god damn 6 pin PCI-eXpress power connector... Will the X1900 run with out it? Obviously not for games but can I atleast format my HDD so I can start installing drivers, APPS, etc?

I am getting up bright and early tomorrow to run to a computer store to pick one up but should I even start taking my current system apart tonight?

BAH so angry!!!! My own darn fault though....

I don't know man, but with all that new high end stuff you don't have a PSU that has PCIe power connectors?

I hope it works for you, but I wouldn't be surprised if you have problems getting it to POST. :(

Keep us posted on the OCing that Opteron though :p

What PSU do you have anyway that doesn't have doesn't have the PCI-e molex?

I've got a SeaSonic 460 Watt Super Silencer. It says PCI-eXpress ready and has 3 SATA power connectors, a 24 pin power connector but no 6 pin :(
I don't even think BB or CC will have this kind of connectors so I am probably goign to have to order from Newegg or something ....

PCIe ready but no native 6 pin connector? Not even an adapter stuffed in the box?

Boy, I'm glad I decided against the Seasonic S12 500 I was looking at.

Nope doesn't include one even in the box. Well according to whats left in the box and this pdf.

I can't even think of a store that would have them around here either. I don't mind spending $10 for a friggen power cord tomorrow rather than waiting another two days for the thing from newegg.

if you have to order one, get it from svc.com. although you probably want it overnighted :p i'll drop one in the mail if you want to wait.

edit- when i said i thought they'd have one in the box i actually meant with the card. but i'm sure you've torn through everything anyway.

The Seasonic S12 500 is actually SLI ready w/ 2 PCI-E 6 pin connectors. I can't believe you didn't get any w/ your video card!!! It's like what, one dollar?

JBT - are you near a CompUSA or Fry's?

That's surprising - the X1900XT should come with a 6-pin PCIe to Molex converter. My X1800XT did.

Yeah I just looked to see what ones come with the cable on the pictures all of them do except the Power Color X1900XT that I ordered... :( Reading the box says there should be one but there is not...

Geez, a X1900XT that doesn't come with a 6-pin adapter. How much does it take for the manufacturer to include a 6-pin adapter? $0.10?

well, i am puting this on my experiance with my 6800gs (has a 6pin connecter) yes they do come with the card but i guess they mess up with urs. it runs but has a big warning that pops up at start up "may run unstable and unreliable" but u can still do things on it just at a lower preformace (not sure about in games but im sure about web browsing and installing stuff)

1) I'm surprised the video card didn't come with one just in case.

2) Why the heck does a PCIe ready PSU not at least include an adapter for PCIe if it's not already hard wired in?

Issue 1 is mainly being cheap and they really should have included it as the adapters cost them probably 50 cents in bulk. Definitely under a buck. Issue 2 is simply inexcusable. I still don't understand how a PCIe ready PSU does not include a stupid adapter for PCIe video cards. WTF???

I was looking for "it will run, but you're still a dumb ass"... :)

I'm surprised that it didn't work at all or that the card didn't come with a dual 4-pin molex to 6-pin Y-cable. My X1800XT and every 7x00 card I've ever owned did.

JBT - dumb question but did you take everything outside of the box, sometimes a cable adapter is placed in it's own compartment in the cardboard box? Just hopefully wishing on my end for ya...

I have almost the exact same setup waiting for me at my door right now. An opteron 165, DFI LanParty, but alas I ordered a 7900GT. I can't wait to get home and start overclocking the 165.
