Red wake up!!

For people to have good hygene and take care of their body and have a BALANCED diet to go with it is an important physical appearance yes

read much??
Nice that you left out the part where she should act Middle Aged. Are you saying that younger people don't need to have good hygene and proper nutrition? That's the only way it could be taken as you wrote it.

Red, High School girls want to be "fragile" looking this is Vain.. you know the word I typed in bold? taking care of yourself is one thing, but being so vain that you think a size 6 is a cow while having good hygene and a balanced is not acting middle aged.. Myself and others got that from the message.. but I'll slow down in your case 🙂

edit: never ONCE did I say to not take care of yourself <--- just that alone puts you in the owned zone 🙂

The one time I looked "fragile" I was near death, lying in a hospital, wasting away after losing most of my lean body mass. Damn it, I work hard to keep muscle on my frame and low bodyfat -- and it *is* appreciated by the opposite gender. The only time I plan to be a size 2 is when I'm a skeleton 😛 Mom, on the other hand, is naturally a "narrow stick with bones" (and she still looks great in her 50's). I think most people look best when they exercise, don't overeat, and make use of what nature gave them. That goes for men, too.

I am a small person,I have tiny hands and wrists, slender fingers,I wear a size 8 narrow shoe,my weight goes nicely with my body frame.I am not weak or wasting away by any stretch of the imagination,I exercise regularly and am making excellent use of what nature gave me.Did I look ok bigger? yes but I look and feel better now that I'm smaller.Btw,I was a small slender kid and young adult, this is more a return to natural body type than anything else.

I gotta laugh here about your hospital bed scene,I helped my male roomate move a 27 inch console style tv up 3 winding flights of stairs 2 days ago and handled my end with a lot more grace and less huffing and puffing than he did🙂

Yeah, I'm sure you beat this: Fatty. For one, I make a better fatty than you!

I'll tell you what hon': For every 50 Lbs you lose, I'll lose 2.5 Lbs. Deal? If you cannot beat that, then go here for pro-anorexic posts: Eating Disorder Is Good. I think you'll fit perfectly fine there, especially having such persuasive argument. Sorry, but your sarcasm eludes me really, brotha'.

[Riporin:] "Frankly, it's hard for many here, me included, to imagine a 5'9" woman at 120 lbs not looking skeletal."

What's up with people making this statement. I don't get it. If a 5' 9", 120 Lbs woman looks skeletal, I wonder why it took the lady Melissa dropping to 56 - 58 pounds for her skeleton to be so pronounced? 120 Lbs is perfectly fine for a 5' 9" lady, so long as it's natural.

Geekbabe: Yeah, I'm sure walking in one's shoes could persuade someone to see things differently. However, I have walked in those shoes too, except as Miss Skinny. Did that experience make me want to eat more than my body demanded? No. I learned not to let what people said get to me. In a utopian society, it would make sense that everyone was equal, in spite of what nature gives and denies each. However, we're living in a very different society and universe. Everyone is not equal right from birth. If the entertainment industry endorses full figure as the new look, then it would be pretty easy to accomplish. There would be too much supply than demand. Once upon a time when full figure was the rare thing and something only the wealthy could afford, we had full figure as the ideal look. Now it's changed. (Ironically, it isn't even all skinny persons that qualify for the look in demand.) Anyone, whether rich or poor, can get the full figure. If skininess becomes common tomorrow, then there'll be a shift in preference. You can ask, why do they promote a certain height, whereas most women are short, not average height or tall? Why do they promote the "beautiful", whereas most women are average looking or ugly? The concept is the same: Scarcity. Scarcity keeps price and demand high. If full figure and skinny became too common, I bet obesity would be the next fashion. In some societies, obesity is what's considered beautiful because food isn't easy to come by.

In spite of the inequality, the media does not ask people to lose weight ridiculously to the point of death. I think there's a limit to how much you can stay in denial and blame the media for your lack of discipline. ("You" is used generically.) You can set a goal to lose weight, but you have to have a boundary set. The women who resort to anorexia or bulimia are those without discipline. They are those who have no specific goals set (e.g., where exactly they want to stop; the number) and have never stood to reason on why they want to lose weight. It seems to me, they just go with, "I want to lose weight because so and so says I'm not pretty, even though I am within the ideal weight recommended by the doctor. I want to look like them." If one has no set, precise goal, one will fail . . . and miserably (e.g., become anorexic, bulimic or gain excess weight again), that is. Even the skinny folks I see on TV don't go to the point of looking so sick, with exception to a few like Terry, the Superman actress.

You know at this point I'm just enjoying feeling good.I eat well,a LOT of protein and veggies with plenty of room for the occasional treat.I'm also enjoying playing with updating my makeup and clothing. How nice it is to have a wider range of choices available to me now. It's just flat out fun to look at a piece of clothing on the rack and suddenly realize hey I can wear that now! 😀

Congrats Geekbabe.

I need to drop a few pounds before I am at where I want to be. I'm thinking cutting out beer might help a lot.

As much as I LOVE a cold beer,I gotta admit cutting way back helped with weight loss.I content myself with an occasional beer now or a shot of brandy in my coffee.

If occasional equals less than 2 cases per week I am screwed.😛

What the hell is with this crap of how much weight matters? I'm sorry but 95% of guys I know would rather have a average fit female over a skinny freakin twig. Girls do it to themselves... Most guys I know would probably prefer a size 2 or 4 girl over a size 0... size 2 or 4 is very healthy and attractive looking IMO. Not to mention the fact that making love to someone who is size 0 is like slamming yourself into a bag of rocks. It is neither healthy or attractive IMO.

I have no clue what dress size my wife wears, nor do I care, so I guess I'm part of the 95%.

If you don't know her sizes how can you surprize her with an occasional gift from Victoria's Secret or Fredricks?

Easy one to answer. The smaller the better.

My wife hates surprises and she like to buy her own things. Plus, she thinks that I have poor taste. :disgust: She's French so she can't help herself.

She's had a lifelong struggle with her weight and hates discussing food, diet, weight, sizes, etc.

She's about 5'5" - 5'6". In the 13 or so years we've been together, I estimate her weight has ranged from about 110 lbs to 145 lbs. Right now I presume she's about 120 - 125 lbs. At that weight, she's slender. Many would say that she's skinny. At 110 lbs her cheeks were hollowed out and she looked emaciated. Not flattering at all, imo.

You should be proud of yourself, Geekbabe! 😀 I really mean it, since you had your specific goal set.

"just as long as you understand that i was sarcastic... I was laying it on pretty thick. Is there something wrong with your face?"

Well, I am afraid of men with tatoos, especially those shorter and bigger than I. Hence I hide my face. Hehehe! Really though, I just conceal my identity for personal reasons, especially when it isn't necessary for the purpose of conveying my message. In this case, it wasn't necessary, since the discussion was weight.

"No only did luvly lose her head, someone stole her boobs"

LOL! Too funny, Bamavoo! You've been cracking me up lately! It's funny, I was said to have big boobs, but lately I feel like they're sagging or something. If it helps, my body had to stretch to make room for even those small boobs. You can see the marks left, except it blends with my skin tone. 😉 (I'll have to make cocoa butter available, lest I have stretch marks all over my stomach and body in the event that I get pregnant.)

Really though, it's hard to see the boobs on a skinny lady when she's wearing clothes bigger than she. The dresses I had there were a little big for me. 😛

You sure those marks weren't made by your brain escaping from your body in a fit of shame?

Seriously. Stop posting. Never has one been so annoying and self-absorbed as you. I hereby declare that contest over and you the outright victor. I'll have your name engraved on the trophy by the end of the day.

I do have to give luvly credit. She? sure takes it in stride, no matter the comment!
