I see you wrote 5 foot 11 foot. Hehe! All right, I'll assume it was a typographical error. Someone 5' 11" and 150 Lbs is actually a slender person. The person doesn't even have to be muscular. On the other hand 5' 0", 120 Lbs is fleshy yet not fat. The difference in weight between the two is insignificant for the purpose of your analogy, unless of course you meant to describe a 5' 10" 120 Lbs person. Even then, again it fails in that someone who's 5' 11", 150 Lbs is definitely slender, even if muscular. Basically, here's my view: Weight does matter. There's a reason we have the chart for guidance. Weight often reflects your habits. Of course there are exceptions, but generally what you weigh reflects your habits (e.g., whether or not you eat excessively, eat appropriately, or exercise). However, if within a recommended range for healthy people, then you shouldn't be worried about how well you fit in. Weight in the sense many Americans speak of it is irrelevant. You have to be fit in the first place (i.e., lose the weight that puts you in high danger of illnesses associated with obesity) before you begin even worrying about fitting into the trousers of a skinny supermodel. P.S.: [Geekbabe:] "The pot of gold by today's fashion standards, the highly coveted size zero" Who says a size 0 is the ideal? I know in the modelling industry it isn't. A size 2 is ideal in the modelling industry, with room for size 4 and 6. In my opinion, a size 0 is not pretty unless it really comes naturally. I'm a size 3. There's no way I'll lose my hips to be a size 0. Curvature is beautiful on a woman. 😉
Spoken like a true fatty.
And we wonder why Anorexia and Bulimia is such a problem with the young women today?
Oh like there's anything wrong with throwing up after you eat. You must be fat also. Bunch o' fatties on ATOT today.

amcdonald, don't take this the wrong way, but I love you. 😀

Takes one to know one, judge. As you sit upon your throne judging, care to qualify yourself? Show us a picture of you the stunning, hot guy that every chick drools over! Droooooool!

For the viewing pleasure of all fat ATOT members: Weight.

Here's your statement: "[Amcdonald:] I'm the same [143 Lbs] at 5'8""

"[Amcdonald:] I'm not skinny, you must be fat or built."[/i]

So you're 5' 8" and 143 Lbs and you're telling a 6' 1", 133 Lbs chick that she's fat? Welcome to the world of the figuratively blind.

LOL🙂 Your dentist will love you when you have to get all your teeth replaced due to them being eaten away by the stomach acid you heaved through them in your goal to keep from being portly.

Of course you are probably some punk in his early 20's that has the energy on a 3 year old who can eat anything he wants and still not gain a pound. Of course that will change shortly and I am sure I will see you on on the road running just like the rest of us old fscks who refuse to get fat!

I don't know if I can get down to a size 2,that might require more will power than I posses at this stage of my life but I might give it a shot.

Yup, there should be a rule that you can't post your weight without showing your wares.

I'm still waiting to see skoorbie in that size 2 dress.

I can't speak for Skoorb but I look pretty slim and I have an official and confirmed witness🙂

LOL, Whaleskinrug! 😀

"are you using standard siziing measurements to determine your absolute size? it seems that sizes vary so much there is no consistency. i have noticed that the more expensive designer clothes are often larger fit with a smaller size tag. apparently women will pay to wear smaller sizes"

Geekbabe, I totally agree with Whaleskinrug. When I go to buy things in the regular store and for the regular people, my size reads as 5/6 for below waist, and then small or xsmall for top. However, when I go to a store for tall people, my size reads as size 3, with size 4 being a little big for me. Measurements vary from designer to designer.

If you also believe the credibility of the plus size model Andy on Starting Over, the designers have large fittings tagged as smaller sizes. For example, a size 6 dress is really a size 8. It matches Whaleskinrug's statement. The designers, especially top ones, supposedly do it to please the consumers. People want to believe they are smaller than they really are.

Well I can tell you that she cuts a svelte figure🙂

Congrats!

Well I normally go with if you look good you don't need to care about weight 😀. That is of course if your arteries aren't clogged up! Which I'm sure they are not.

Koing

I started @ 180 in July, now I'm down to 166 and hoping to get down to 160 by January/February. I really hope I stick to my diet through the holidays as well.

Congrats Geekbabe and everyone else, and  (low carb, of course) to continued progress.

I know all about designers tagging large clothing with smaller sizes, trust me I'm not sporting designer labels here when discussing my size.

I didn't mean the original comment to suggest Geekbabe is not a size 4, 2, etc. Just that using bf% and weight would be more consistent measure of your progress. Also, if you track bf% it will give you an idea of how low is too low for your particular body. If one focuses on sizes (especially since they are not consistent) it could lead to all sorts of distortion. I just know I have bought things online and been utterly shocked at how much larger they were than I expected. Now, I only buy things that I get accurate measurement in inches for that exact item or can try on.

While talking about sizing, has anyone else noticed that the men's shoes of 15-20 years ago were about 1 size smaller than they are now 😛 Or that the average size of t-shirts and jeans for men are now "relaxed"
