WTF? I can't even get a goddamn job and I'm depressed over that. Be glad you have something to do during your awaken hours. I sit, and sit...all day long. And occasionally return some job applications..about 25 in August...no one has called back yet.

Vote Democrat.

Or find a doctor wife: plenty of money to support you; she's too busy to be around you and be a nag.

Dont get me wrong. i love my job and the company. I think it boils down to that i am just sick and tired of being responsible, the bread winner, the decision maker.

I NEED A YEAR ON A BEACH SOMEPLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no worries, no stress, no work, no school. just me the wife and kids and an endless supply of adult beverages.

if i didnt have a wife and 3 kids i would walk right fricken now.

yeh I guess your just stick and tired of it all. But we all go through stages like that every so often or not often at all. But they still come.

My IT teacher in HS played a season in the NBA then played around the world. Then next th ing he knows he has a wife, morgage and 2 kids! He is like wtf?! But he enjoys it.

Chin up and you will get by.

I've worked a MINIMUM of fifty hours a week for the past 8 years, sometimes as much as eighty-five, I've held one job and also had a series of part time jobs on weekends and off hours in that time. All my friends have drifted away, and I have no time or energy to develope any support relationships besides family.

I'm "climbing someone else's ladder" as the saying goes. I have no real interest in the job I do, but they pay me far to much for me to be able to quit.

My after-work martinis have gone from an indulgence to a prescription, it's been over two months since my last day off, I'm currently working seven days a week, and I have a baby due in November.

Thanks for starting the thread and giving me an outlet to vent. Carry on.

I know how the OP feels. I have been working since I was a teenager. One good thing is that I am still single and don't have kids and wife to support. I took almost a year off from work a few years ago just to recharge my battery.

All I can say is things can be worse. At least you live in the USA, you don't get blow off (Israel) or be a hostage (Irag/Russia) or be hungry (Sudan). Just count your blessings.

I'm kind of burned out too.

100 hour weeks. No days off for 6 months, then a sick day, then no more days off for 3 or 4 months. Working nights, then days. 31 hour shifts. Extra hours on holidays.

Now I go to school full time (1 hour each way to school) and work full time. Everyone says I don't know how to relax or have fun. My youth is wasting away.

Oh, well, time for bed. I have to wake up for school in less than 6 hours. ;)

I also work 7 day weeks nonstop between two jobs. The weekend job ain't that bad as I get off at noon and still have the weekend to myself. My weekday shifts don't end until 8pm so by the time I'm off the day's already over. The only time I get days off is during holidays or the odd days when I call in sick (which is more often that usual lately ;) ).

Wish I were smart enough to start and sustain some kind of a small business. Working for yourself is better than working for someone else, usually.

I'd love to take a year or two off and just travel all over and actually have the time to kick back and enjoy life.

the problem is, in "this" country, too many people are working really hard and too many hours/week..for cr*p pay....and, compared to other countries, the us is way down on the list "number of holidays/days off" per year.

In other words: the work environment here (for a majority ? of people) just plain sucks. I would have nothing against hard work for adequate pay..and/or hard work w/ crap pay if i can get time off once in a while.

Right now i/we take usually 2 1/2 weeks off every year, going on vac (Florida etc.) planning to go to either Europe (or Mexico) next year.... AT LEAST.
I know it sucks for people with kids who dont have a lot of money because a vacation/travelling somewhere will be so much more expensive...and we're fortuante we always can stay with relatives for free and dont have kids either :)

If you work long and hard like many others, at least go on a nice vacation once a year

Otherwise (despites the crappy work situation)..yeah i agree..still be happy that you have work because it will NOT be better if you dont have any...but do something to balance it out (going out, going on vacation, give kids to relatives and go somewhere alone, go to bars :)

::UPDATE::

In part because of this thread, I scheduled two days off. I'm taking the holiday Monday and a vacation day Tuesday. My cell phone will be 'lost', I will be puttering about the yard, drinking heavily and may pass out on the lawn.

Are you fvcking serious?!?! :Q :(

Holy fvcking BBQ!!!!!
I feel like such a wimp now. I make my 40 hrs a week and Im outta there. I cant imagine working a part time crapper job on top of what I do now. I dont have time and we just have one child. My wife is a grad student so I go to work early and then pick my son from school, go to whatever we have to do then we get my wife @ 6 or 7 or 8 at night come home, cook, eat, clean, collapse and then wake up at 6 am to start it all over. If I didnt have weekends free I dont think I could do it.

You guys are my new inspiration!!!
Oh yeah and I love to pass out on the lawn on the weekends too, see you there :beer::beer:

Damn man, I'd like to have sympathy for you, but keep your pants on for christ sake. Your diggin yourself in a hole cause you seem to have an insatiable love for impregnating women, no? 28 years old and already 4 kids. I hope I'm not even married yet when I reach that point.
