Interesting cubby1223. I tried the U.S. site for those drivers a long time ago, downloaded several times, and the file was always corrupt. I will have to try them sometime.

I sold my Acoustic Edge card to another user here in the fs forum just like a month ago, and I just directed him to that site, and he had no problems at all getting the drivers downloaded and installed.

Funny you mention the file always being corrupt. That exact same problem happened to me with the same downloaded drivers from Philips, though this was back in 2001. But back then I figured out that the only things that didn't work were any self extracting zip archives, ended up I had a virus that attached itself to all .exe files on the drive and the only files rendered useless were those self extracting archives. And it just happened to be that I first noticed it with the Acoustic Edge driver download. So that time it was my fault. ;)

Thank you for all your help. I actually had received this very same file from another forum and opened it up. what I see is that this is an upgrade, and not the original software that opens the program which lets you pick if you want 2 speakers or more and other options. That program is missing form this bundle. I still cannot find a way for the computer to recognize the sound card so I can direct it to the folder where I extracted the files to.

I will try one more thing first. I will remove the sound card from the pci slot and place it in another slot and see if the computer finds a new Hardware device...

Please input what you think about the copleteness of this bundle. Is it an upgrade requiring, an original installation, or does it have all it needs for a brand new instalation?

Occasionally I would have troubles getting Windows to recognize my Acoustic Edge. This would happen maybe once or twice a year, so definately not frequently. Usually just took the card out of the slot and put it back in, and Windows would detect it again. And just for the record, I've had similar issues with the Audigy 2 card I currently have.

The driver download from the site is complete, even though the setup says upgrade. When Windows does detect the new hardware and go through the new hardware installation procedure, just point it to the directory you extracted the files to, and the installation will take care of the audio control panel program that will then run at startup which gives you the options to set up the speaker configuration. It is the acoustice.exe file that is the control panel to set speaker configuration.
