to... Senior Prom....

Okay, I don't know how it happened but it did. Our senior prom bid started two weeks ago, and ended last Thursday. I wasn't able to pay for my senior prom since I have to wait for my parents to transfer the money from other country. So I went up there to pay last Monday... well.. the bulletin says that we can only pay during lunch.. so I suppose I can go at lunch recess. But they told me that have to come before lunch recess which is "within that 30 minutes of lunch time"...

and that was what I did the next day (Tuesday). I got in the office, and they checked my forms,.. they said I need to get insurance since I am not covered by any insurance. They directed me to business office, and I waited for approximately ten minutes, then people work there told me I should go to Main Office. And I did, by the time I got the Insurance Form, the bell just rang. I rushed to the activity room, saying if i still have the chance to purchase the bid that day. They said NO.

So i went there again on Wednesday, but the line was already long, I waited for 15 minutes, they only processed 8 people. (very slow).. Then the bell rang, the officers said we all had to go. and they assumed us all come in at the last minute. They told me to come in next day, but they didn't even open the office , only one sign on the door said "SENIOR PROM BIDS SOLD OUT".. I mean...

I tried my best to get it done ASAP, but they directed me to the wrong office, i was only late for 1 minute to turn in the paper that same day... I waited for 15 minutes, because they process things slow, so we suffer it???
I really want to go to prom.. i mean.. only once in your life...

If you were me, what would you do?:(

You are in a pretty tough predicament. I went to my senior prom and well, it was somewhat fun I guess. Especially the "ripping" of my dates's dress (a whole 'nother story) and well it prety much was a blast. You get to hang out with friends and things, but other than that, it's way too much hype for me. I mean people keep talking about iot throughout the years they attend high school and make it sound like such a big deal that it gives others the mentality that it is. If I were in your position, I would try my best to donvince the office otherwise of your predicament and your special circumstances of not being able to get money and other things on time. If that doesn't work, try to buy bids off somebody else who already bought them, but can't go. I suggest posting on your school's site or something like that or just ask around. There has bound to be one couple who couldn't make it. There always is. And lastly, the final and most creative thing. Make your own prom! Show that special someone that you still care and even though neither of you can attend prom, just set up a nice dinner for two at a local place and rent a room and dance the night away. That would romantic, no? Lol, but then again if that doesn't work then just invite friends and do something along those lines. So do you have like your date and everything arranged yet? Give us the skinny ;).

At my school, all seniors are allow to go to prom. You just have to buy a ticket at lunch. Sweet and simple. :)
Your school prom requires way too much unnecessary paper work and restrictions. Complain to the administrators or something.

Damn! All I had to do to go to Prom was show up with my date.

EDIT: Oops, just realized I made it sound like you had to have a date to get in. It was not a requirement.

I don't know why they have this thing called "bid sale"... At first, I thought those things were just for people who want to get a "good seat".. but later I realized that it was actually the ticket to prom.

I didn't have insurance, so I need to get something like "a temporary insurance"..that's what the additional "paper work" I had to do.

I know it's not really a big deal to go to Prom, but ... I already got the dress, everywhere I go, everything I see, it's just all about prom prom... I was "that close" to get to prom.. but...

Right now, they put people who can't go on waiting list, but NO GUARANTEE, it says.. let's see who is the luckiest....

I feel weird because seems like our high school is the only school on this island that does this kind of weird.. and ridiculous thing.... that you have to buy bids early only during that 30 minutes,.. I figured if they process 8 people in 15 minutes.. a week, the most they can get is.. 150 people.. we have like 300 seniors..

There are a lot of students in our school complain about this issue.... but I guess no administrators care...
