So today at work (im interning at a trading company doing IT work over my summers and breaks....this was the first time i worked for IT, I was with accounting for the previous times) i needed to get into a room i didnt have access to, which required me to get my "Boss's" (i use that term lightly....anyone there can give me something to do) key to get in. I did my thing and got back to work...totally forgetting about the key. We all go home (I think him and the other guys were going out to a bar or something) and after my 45min train ride, I notice the key. This wouldnt normally be an issue...except for they are turning off the power in our building for maintence on Sat night, and that means hes gotta be in to reboot the servers.....:(

I dont know that he will need the key for sure, but I guess better safe than sorry. It is my mistake, I know...i even rode the elevator down with him!!! :mad; I emailed the guy in charge of IT, as i know he has a blackberry he checks often, asking him to email or call me when he can....hopefully that works out. If not, I guess I gotta head back downtown (chicago) tomorrow to put the key on his desk for when he gets there on sunday.....:(

Today was really a good day, got a lot done and had a fun time.....so I suppose this could be a lot worse! (positive outlook ftw)

*sigh* Sh!t Happens I guess.....

/blog :p

Update: I went into the office yesterday and left the key on his monitor with a note saying i forgot to return it to him....

I don't know. I know you're somewhat to blame, but he should have asked for it back. Ultimately, the responsibility will fall on him, not you. Losing a key/nametag where I work is a pretty big thing, and they don't care how or why you don't have it, only the fact that you don't.

its not a key to get into the office or anything, just to open closets and what not....I just dont know if he will in fact need it when he goes in on Sunday

Don't feel bad, I've done the same thing, and nobody here thinks I'm an idiot.
