Aiight, so I got sworn in today and now I'm an American. I no longer have just a tank to represent me! So, this is what I plan to do today:

- Go to library and pick up voter registration card (too bad I missed today's Primary--Go Bowles!)
- Go home and hide everything with Canadian flag on it (this will take awhile...) ;)
- Taunt all my Canadian friends (I'm sure they all envy me now!) and b!tchslap anyone of them that thinks the US gets involved where it doesn't belong ;)
- Go to Confederate Guns in Waxhaw (yes, real store) and buy my first gun. Should I start with a 9mm or go all out for the .44??
- Stop learning about anything outside of America...so when I go abroad I can act all arrogant and ignorant and keep the stereotypes about Americans alive! ;)

All joking aside, I'm glad I'm finally 'here'. Now the only thing I can't do is run for president!

Although I doubt you'd have been able to vote even if you'd been nationalized yesterday, as I suspect there are minimum duration residency laws. But I'm glad that it's on your list of things to do -- too many people who are citizens by birth don't take the time to participate in one of the most important civil responsibilities they have.

Welcome, but watch out for terrorists. ;)

I've been a resident of the US since 1993, and a resident of my voting district in Mecklenburg county since 1996 (off and on since I was in college.)

Congrats!

Now sit back, relax, and mooch off of the welfare / social security system like the other weirdos here :frown:

j/k

It is a problem, though.

Anyway, congratulations! :D Welcome to the country that everybody loves to hate and wants to live in at the same time. We don't care; grab a cold one and watch the fireworks.

Major downside to becoming an American, you won't be able to drink as much beer or say "eh" with a straight face.

Congratulations!!!! Always glad to greet a new citizen! Remember to get out there and vote!! :D

Edit: Forgot to mention. As far as the guns go. I'd prefer the 9mm, though I don't own one. My personal preference for home defense is a 12gauge shotgun. :)

Sure you can! I say 'eh' all the time, but probably because I can get away with it being so far from the Canadian border (Texas). It's a word that has much use in my life. :D Americans can arguably drink more beer than Canucks, and almost as much as the Irish or Germans!

Welcome, JIGGA. Glad you're 'here'. :)

You wish you could drink as much as us.... :D

Course... if I was a cheapo drunk... my bar tab would be greatly reduced..

Congraduations on becoming an American.

On the gun issue:
Have you ever fired a pistol before?
If not you might want to get the 9mm because as the caliber goes up its harder to shot faster with good accuracy. This is nice to have when you go to a target range with other people around and empty a clip (16--15+1) in under 10 seconds and get all the shots in the 8-10 range.
When i tried my friends 45 it was VERY hard to hit even hit the target when firing that fast. I'm not a little twig either: 220lbs and 5'10." It would take a lot of practice to control a higher caliber;moreover, 9mm ammunition is VERY cheap compared to higher caliber ammunition.
