Here's a local news website in Seattle, and it gives a follow up report of one of the homes that were done on the show. The house burnt down earlier, EHM rebuilt it and also made a B&B for them. The tax situation could be managed if you plan from the very start, you may have to arrange a payment plan with the IRS at the worst to make sure it all gets paid and no one ends up in court.
