I am NEVER considering a Nokia phone again.

My Nokia Lumia 920 is unusable with ANY Bluetooth device. These are just a sample of things I've tried it with.

Pioneer AppRadio 2 Head Unit
JVC KW-NT800HDT Head Unit
Motorola Roadster 2 Bluetooth speaker
TWO Logitech Z515 Speakers
Logitech Mini Boombox

EVERY single device froze the phone completely, even with no apps installed.. EVERY SINGLE ONE froze the phone.

Sent it off for RMA, they took the phone no questions asked from me. Guy on the other end made it sound like it's a common problem.

Three weeks later (today), I get this reply:
Thanks for sending us your Nokia device for service. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to duplicate your problem, so we are
returning your device.

What a crock. I have never been so pissed in my life. There is no way they tested the phone or did anything to it. They probably did a factory reset and are sending it back.

Nokia can go to hell.

Try calling customer support again and ask to speak to a supervisor. Nokia has pretty good customer service, but their actual repair center is pretty poor as I've heard. I've read numerous stories that users have called and got the supervisor, and they actually sent a brand new phone to the user.

Also, I hear Stephen Elop is very, very good at reading user emails and will help you greatly.

Go ahead and try contacting him.

could be a WP8 problem?

If it were a WP8 problem, then the repair center at Nokia would have been able to reproduce it. Regardless, the way the rep made it sound to amdhunter is that it was a common problem and should be replaced without a hitch.

I'm still suggesting email Mr. Elop. I believe he'll take good care of you.

The Portigo update seemed to fix it for other people. One co-worker here has bluetooth working 100%. We think his phone is different from the rest of use because he has no camera rattle, or bluetooth issues at all.

I tried all the usual fixes, including updating, turning off Wi-Fi, turning off GPS, fresh installation, etc.

The phones completely defective. It's extremely annoying.

FWIW, from what I've read some people are getting different hardware versions back when it's rma'd with nokia. My old one was 1.0.0, I'll update if the new one is any different.

Yeah, he suggested that the phone would be opened and the electronics changed, to which I agreed. I just want a working phone. It sucks since it's my work provided phone also, which I recommended to quite a few people in my organization.

I have 3 others waiting to see how my "repair" turned out before they set up RMA's for their phones.

This is NOT looking good for me at all.

I would mention that in the email to Stephen Elop, too. I wonder if it were just a rushed batch of 920s to get them out. It's a possibility.

I just hope this gets resolved for you and your company as well as SpatiallyAware. :(

Nokia support forums are awful. I made a post detailing all of the hardware I've tried it with and how upset I was at getting the phone back untouched and they erased my posts.

Ugh. I'm not the only one complaining, but I am being very vocal there. This thread was 14 pages when I made my post. They've cleaned house.

It's interesting that they have this problem.

The bluetooth protocol is pretty mature now and nokia have plenty of experience using it.

Is it a hardware or software problem?

Hardware revision 1.0.0.0 here, I don't use a lot of bluetooth but it works with my BT headset and speakers. Good luck getting your issue fixed though. :(

Yeah i'm another owner with HW Rev 1.0 and have no issues. The only bluetooth i use is through my car (standard bmw, non-idrive) for phone calls and it's worked without an issue.

Another owner here - HW Rev 1.0.0.0, no issues whatsoever, good luck.

Crap happens, it just sucks more when it happens to you. You could have this or any number of hardware issues no matter what brand you go with. I hope they come through on the support side for you and get you a working phone.

I updated the firmware on my Pioneer head unit and it made the bluetooth work perfectly. FYI I only experienced the total freeze up once, my biggest problem was no metadata being relayed to the stereo.

Nebor,
where did you find the firmware update for the headunit? I have an 8400 pioneer unit and it doesn't automatically pick up my phone and the forward and reverse buttons do not work to change the song.

I would love to try a firmware update on the headunit.
