Go buy the movie "Noble House" like STAT! It's set like right before it was returned to China, but it's still pretty much the same. Seriously... The scene about the smell of Hong Kong was great.
"He took a deep breath of air. Once again he caught a strangeness in the wind, neither pleasant nor unpleasant, neither odor nor perfume ? just strange, and curiously exciting. "Superintendent, what's that smell?" Armstrong hesitated. Then he smiled. "That's Hong Kong's very own, Mr. Bartlett. It's money."

Ok here are some of the reasons on why I am so stoked about moving to HK:
- the new job has much higher pay than my current one, especially after the LOW tax rate in HK (max of 15%, I will be taxed at 10% rate)
- the prospects of the new company is much better!
- I am a foodie, and HK is just the haven for delicious and reasonably priced food!
- The night life in HK is very lively
- HK is the manhattan of the east, but bigger and with more things to do
- HK is the hub for most major airlines in Asia, so you can get cheap flights to almost all destinations in the world
- I am asian myself so I am looking forward to meet other Asian people (girls)
- HK has no import tax on goods, so shopping there for all things is great! Especially for electronic goods!
- HK has a lot to offer other than above, like how you can go to the small islands scattered around, and go hiking, jogging, etc
- I can hop on a ferry and get to Macau for gambling and what not in less than 1 hour
- I can get on a train and go to shenzhen for cheap massages, or get cheap stuff from china (less than 1 hour)
will think of more later

You should read the book, the miniseries doesn't come close to doing it justice.

I am a HK native myself, 100% made in HK.
- the new job has much higher pay than my current one, especially after the LOW tax rate in HK (max of 15%, I will be taxed at 10% rate) <----working condition in HK is very stressful, what kind of holidays are they giving you?
- the prospects of the new company is much better! <---hope it is not a chinese company you are working for.
- I am a foodie, and HK is just the haven for delicious and reasonably priced food! <---surely, most foods in HK are imported from china. anyone is up for some tinted foods?
- The night life in HK is very lively <---that's true
- HK is the manhattan of the east, but bigger and with more things to do <--- I just don't want to do anything with the polluted air in HK, hope you don't have asthma.
- HK is the hub for most major airlines in Asia, so you can get cheap flights to almost all destinations in the world <---it is all good for visiting southeast asia.
- I am asian myself so I am looking forward to meet other Asian people (girls) <---HK girls are known for gold digger, you will see all girls carry expensive handbags and they do expect their bf to buy them those. don't be surprise they sell their body just to buy brands stuffs.
- HK has no import tax on goods, so shopping there for all things is great! Especially for electronic goods! <---I can get better deals in US than in HK.
- HK has a lot to offer other than above, like how you can go to the small islands scattered around, and go hiking, jogging, etc <---like I said, I don't like doing anything outdoor because of the air. watch out for illegal immigrants that will rob you if you go hiking.
- I can hop on a ferry and get to Macau for gambling and what not in less than 1 hour
- I can get on a train and go to shenzhen for cheap massages, or get cheap stuff from china (less than 1 hour) <---I don't like Macau, there is nothing there and it is no vegas. for the cheap massages in shenzhen....damn, I hate you for mentioning this. I definitely miss this.![]()

I go to HK (Shenzhen, actually, but go to HK also) for business all the time. HK is great, especially if you're younger and like to go out.
