Well, here I am high as a kite on vicodin, Good sh!t man.

I was headed to work yesterday on 75 SB here in GA. As I am tooling along doing 65in the left hand lane because cops are less than a 1/4 mile behind me, some jackass in a full size truck swerves all the way over from the entrance ramp at better than 90 mph and busts me lfrom behind. I felt the impact, looked up just in time to see the grill of the truck in my review mirror. Next thing I know, I am spinng out of controll across 4-5 lanes of traffic, hit the wall on the right hand side of the freeway, spin back around the opposite dirrection and come to a stop about 300 yards away from the impact area. this guy is still traveling out of control about 1/3 of a mile away off in the woods. 3 othe cars some how got nailed as well.

I am the lucky one. wearing seatbelt, steered into the spins. Shaken but not flipped over. Cops tell me steering into the spins kept me from flipping over. That dodge dakota was one tuff truck.

I got to ride in ambulance, neck brace, backboard, lights, but no siren.

I am thankful for a few things:

1, My son was not in the truck with me at the time.
2, I drive a tough truck
3, Driving school. If I had not been to it years ago and known how to react rather than think about what to do, I might have flipped or rolled.
4, Seatbelts, because I was buckled in and the seatbelt locked up, keeping me in the seat, I was able to maintain control of the truck to an extent that I did not roll over.
5. Highback seats. This kept me from really damaging my neck on impact, plus, it also allowed me to press against it, keeping me in place as wel.

So time to pop a couple more vicodin, lay down and watch Lord of the rings ROTK EE, after my MIL brings it over for me. 😀

Cliff Notes:
Going to work
Got plowed in the ass at 95+ MPH
Truck totalled.
Me feel no pain, just high as a kite.

Glad that you are okay. It's a crazy crazy world out there.

Glad you are okay man.

Stupid question - What do you mean by steering into the spins? Does it mean you turned the wheel the same direction as you were spinning and why?

Did this happen around Chastain Rd? Cuz' I saw some fresh paint laid down on the highway to mark the tires(An all too common sight up here!)

Glad to see you are okay!

Peace

Happened on 75 SB between the onramp from Highway 5 and the Allgood road overpass. Wife drove by there this morning on her way to work and said it looked like some kid had been doing donuts in the middle of 75.

Yeah, after I posted I kinda thought that the asshole would have to had a good long lead to get his truck up to 95 mph and Canton Rd sure does afford that opportunity.

Whereabout do you live in Acworth? You got to be close to me.Just general area, not too specific.

Peace

Lounatik

That sounds horrible. I always get tense when I'm driving on the beltway and a stupid truck is tailgating me at high speed. Thank goodness you're okay.

Jeez man, you live like two miles from me. You know where the United Rental place is on 92? I live back behind there. Bartow county, about 100 feet from Cherokee.

More info on this driving school? I'm always interested in anything that could reduce insurance costs and save my balls in my old, unsafe, high-COG vehicles.

It is no longer around. I took it when I was about 21, so that is 16 years ago. Can't remember the name, or anything, other than what to do in certain situations. I think the local Porsche dealership put it on or something

yeah, you point your tires in the direction of travel. If you're not spinning too bad, you can recover completely, but in an accident situation just not flipping over is what's important.

Countersteering when my back end comes around is second-nature to me now. It's a good idea to practice in snowy parking lots 🙂

So you're the one who kept me from getting to work on time because of all the traffic!!! 😉

Glad to hear you're okay. I hope you went to the Dr. to get completely checked out. What's next? Sue the other driver? Your car going to be taken care by his insurance? Was the other driver high or drunk while driving?

I hope all stress didn't cause you to almost have a heart attack or something. Good luck as you recover...in time for Karsten's next LAN party.

Oh, and on a positive note: The xray tech was a little hottie, the nurse was a hottie, and the 2 EMTs were both cute females as well. I at least 1 set of bewbies hanging over me at any given moment. 😀😀😀 Major BOOBAGE!!!!!!

Trust me, My dad will let me know if I will have to bring in the Rail Guns or not. If I do, I will sit back and watch the lawyer frag fest with some coke and popcorn.

I would love to date a nurse 🙂

Will be driving down to Porsche on Monday and harassing them. "WTF, go away, you couldn't sell your soul to buy a 911, we don't want you around here" will probably be their response.

I took a similar free course offered by BMW a few years ago. It was geared towards < 18 drivers.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. Especially if she's an ER nurse. Crappy hours, and always working, especially on the weekends. On the plus side, she make tons of moola and often pays for my broke ass 😀

BTW
glad you're ok Ulfwald. Gotta warn you though, the pain will probably get worse before it gets better. Since the guy will be paying, you might want to look at getting some physical therapy to help you out.

glad to hear you are ok

the way people drive in atlanta, the odds of getting whacked by some moron are pretty high

Ok, I am a bit clear headed, in between doses of vicodin right now.

Monday will be as follows:

1 Call my orthopedist, and schedule an appointment asap.
2 Schedule a time for me to pick up the xrays from Friday so I can take them to the Ortho.
3 Ask for more vicodin. this stuff is great.
4 call HR dept at work and arrange for someone to cover my schedule for a couple of days.

Wednesday is the day the police report is available. as soon as I get it, i will scan it and place it up here for you peeps to get a look at it.
