Glad to hear you're doing alright. :)

A few months back (August) I got plowed into at 40+mph when I was stopped at an intersection...luckily it was a straight forward impact and I just went through the intersection (which was clear), no spinning involved...

Well, here I am high as a kite on vicodin, Good sh!t man.

I was headed to work yesterday on 75 SB here in GA. As I am tooling along doing 65in the left hand lane because cops are less than a 1/4 mile behind me, some jackass in a full size truck swerves all the way over from the entrance ramp at better than 90 mph and busts me lfrom behind. I felt the impact, looked up just in time to see the grill of the truck in my review mirror. Next thing I know, I am spinng out of controll across 4-5 lanes of traffic, hit the wall on the right hand side of the freeway, spin back around the opposite dirrection and come to a stop about 300 yards away from the impact area. this guy is still traveling out of control about 1/3 of a mile away off in the woods. 3 othe cars some how got nailed as well.

I am the lucky one. wearing seatbelt, steered into the spins. Shaken but not flipped over. Cops tell me steering into the spins kept me from flipping over. That dodge dakota was one tuff truck.

I got to ride in ambulance, neck brace, backboard, lights, but no siren.

I am thankful for a few things:

1, My son was not in the truck with me at the time.
2, I drive a tough truck
3, Driving school. If I had not been to it years ago and known how to react rather than think about what to do, I might have flipped or rolled.
4, Seatbelts, because I was buckled in and the seatbelt locked up, keeping me in the seat, I was able to maintain control of the truck to an extent that I did not roll over.
5. Highback seats. This kept me from really damaging my neck on impact, plus, it also allowed me to press against it, keeping me in place as wel.

So time to pop a couple more vicodin, lay down and watch Lord of the rings ROTK EE, after my MIL brings it over for me. :D

Cliff Notes:
Going to work
Got plowed in the ass at 95+ MPH
Truck totalled.
Me feel no pain, just high as a kite.

Glad you're OK.

 Toast to the good ol Trusty Truck. It served well.

Let us know when you find out about the other driver. Drunk guy, distracted guy, punk teenager, blinde bimbo, eldery blue hair, etc.

Hope you get well soon and don't have any permament recurring pain at all.

No idea what happened to that driver. or any of the others involved.

Sounds like a pretty insane few moments, though. Three or four other cars? Jesus.

Musta missed it

I love Dodge Trucks.

The one good thing about all this is that 2 cops saw the whole thing. they were coming back from a prisoner xport (already dropped off the perps) and saw the jackass try to mate with my truck.

Cops said I was at 65, radar guns showed that, and that is posted speed limit, all the sudden their guns jumped to 95 and I got nailed. said it was all his fault.

Would love to see the insurance company dispute 2 seperate radar guns and 2 police officers. as well as about 5 civilian witnesses.

they will try I bet, saying its your fault for being on the road that day ;)

glad you are ok though.

Once I was going someplace in a fifteen passenger van. We had just around to go back, when Somebody comes by at 65 (way to fast for the conditions) trys to swerve between us and a copcar that was there, hits us, spins across this two lane highway, hits a semi (who took it pretty well) and an SUV. Then somebody rearends us.......eventually 8 cars were involved.

Ok, I am now a bit high on vicodin, brain is fuzzy, but the pain is really getting intense. Time to call the DR. and ask about some stronger pain meds.

BTW, If this is what it feels like to be a$$ raped, no way am I ever doing anything to send me to prison.

Is the driving school you mentioned something separate from drivers training you take to get your license? That's the only actual driving training I've ever done.

EDIT: And I'm glad you're ok :).

Driving school was one I paid for. It is one that is really interesting too. teaches yoou how to react in times of out of control situatiuons. Like yesterday, I steered into the spins, if I had done the opposite, the truck might have flipped over.

Sure, Scott, sure. Trauma does strange things to a desperate man's perception, but I'm sure those guys hardly even noticed you grinning at them like that and just went about their business. ;):p

But the main thing is that you are in one piece and back posting in OT where we can rag on you! Seriously, though, steering in the direction of a spin or slide to get your wheels rolling and regain directional control is definitely a learned response and not a natural one! Mad props to you, Scott!!
