What's the power slide? Tell me, tell me. I play it with my roommate all the time.
It's hard to explain verbally what the powerslide is....
It's when you're in a turn you don't lose speed and if you do this special move, you get a small speed boost coming out of the turn. On a long map with lots of turns it really ads up.
I don't think you'll be able to figure out what the heck I'm talking about if I just explain it in writing

Have you ever gotten "EEEEEEEE" in smoke to come out of your cart when you're in a turn?
That's the start of a power slide.
To get the "EEEEEEEEEEE" started, you need to use the R button that you hit with your right index finger (the grey button).
You then steer away from the way you want to turn with the joystick (I think it's away, I haven't played this in a really long time)
You then have to quickly steer in the direction you want to go for a split second and then steer away again.
The "EEEEEEEEE" (which represents the tires squealing) will then turn yellow.
You repeat the quick flick in the direction you want to go and back again.
The "EEEEEEEEE" will then turn red.
When you're coming out of the turn, release the R button and you'll get a little turbo boost.
It takes quite a bit of practice to get good at it, but it makes a lot of difference. It's also handy in battle mode geing able to do a slide instead of a turn to evade people.... and it's always nice to be able to outrun people in battle mode too.
