I Am Legend

I finished reading "I Am Legend" and started reading all of the short stories at the end of the book...Buried Talents, The Near Departed, Prey, Witch War, etc...

Does anyone know the purpose of these? Do they have any relation to the story I Am Legend? I'm reading the book w/ a picture of will smith on the front.

It's just a compilation of some of his short stories. I Am Legend being the longest one. I remember when I finished the book (I bought the same version) there was no indication that they were separate stories, so I thought they were additional chapters. Man was I ever confused until I realized they were different stories.

Has nothing to do with the story. The book is a million times better than the movie?

Is the book a big difference from the movie? If it's similar, I'll never read it. but if it's very different, I'll be able to read it... I can't read books of movies I've already seen. I have a strong visual memory, and if I've already seen it, I'll be attaching the film's visuals to the book and it just throws me off with the minor differences. Books I read I create a movie all my own in my head and that's what makes any good book such a great page turner, because I need to know or else I start getting antsy, specially in any thriller where it's like 'WTF? What's gonna happen in this creepy dark hallway! I just KNOW something's going to happen!' And then nothing does. But then they get me with something unexpected.

I imagine I Am Legend will be a great read, if it's different enough. And whenever I finally find time to get around to it.

The only thing similar is that there a "vampires" and a guy who is trying to survive the madness of being alone.

It really isn't like the movie at all.
