I am in a hotel in Aguascalientes, Mexico...

Yah I know it's only $4 but damnit I've been here since Monday night and have been cut off from the world (that I know) for the most part other than a few minutes here and there at work. Thankfully I can turn my Blackberry on when I arrive in Houston tomorrow morning.

Oh that's the other thing. Only one flight out of here per day... 6:45AM. WTF. 😛

You could have used those pesos for a donkey show.

Also, doing it a couple times to check in during the vacation is fine, you're only a schmuck if it's three+ days in a row or two hours in a day.

I'm here for work. This place is actually pretty awesome during certain times of the year but this is considered their winter (40 low/75 high) so the hotel bar has me and maybe one other person who is usually the bartender. I did pass some time hitting on the receptionist girl but she only understood every other word. I wasn't sure if it was the language barrier or the cerveza.

You have around 30 minutes left. How are you going to spend your time?

Like a true american seeking american interaction... I am chatting on facebook. Apparently tonight I hate my life. 😉

I did something similar, but in a 5 star resort in Phuket, Thailand. I was warned against going too far on foot, was honestly scared of the lady-boys and the hookers picking my pockets too so I ate almost exclusively on the resort. The food was goddamn incredible. Out of 350 or so units they had 29 rented - this was mid-summer - the offseason in Phuket - its way too damn hot to do anything at all and tourists come in winter here. I ate lunch on the yacht where I was working so only had breakfast and dinner to worry about. Internet was also about $5 for an hour which I used on day 1 to tell my wife I was OK - and check in at work. I used it again on day 3 cuz I was bored.

It was me, the bartender, and this really drunk chick and jock boyfriend the first night - I got pretty buzzed but didn't really want to get slammed - work and all. By day 4 I figured out the cooler bars were right outside on the beach. They play drunk jenga and "kerplunk" - (i.e. drunk connect four) - and bet on it there. The more Tiger beer you drink the better the Jenga gets. The girls ( oh yeah, they have actual bar girls - employed to keep you company and talk and play games while you drink) are almost always just bored and want something to do.

You should have just said "Phuket, I'm here anyway, so I might as well see the sights!"

Seriously though...Thailand? The place is safer than the US.

"Thailand? The place is safer than the US. "

My first trip outside of the USA/Canada - Was ill informed by a number of folks. Went alone - was skeered.

So, that's about $5...give or take?

I paid about 4 to 5 Euro for an hour of internet access when I was in Spain and Portugal last summer. The hotels were much more expensive than the internet cafes though, sometimes two to three times as much in fact.
