I've finally decided to become a writer......as a side job. I don't want to throw away my cushy gov job, but at the same time I don't want to be defined by it for the rest of my life. A career in writing seems rough, but since I have the free time I think it would be great.

I majored in creative writing and history as an undergrad and I have a passion for telling story....plus it helpskeep me sane 🙂

I think from a blood pressure stand point this beats incurring more debt going to law school or getting an mba....

What should I write about, Zombies or love stories??

Preemptive I prefer chocolate chip cookies

I have an idea. You can write the story about two trolls.

One is from Nz
the other inflates to sidewall pressure.

The story can be about the crazy trolling adventures that the two trolls have. And to spice up the story they can be zombie trolls.

Can they be in Love?

My biggest piece of advise for you... learn how to write effective pitches. That's where all writing begins.

You have to convince someone that your story idea is worth publishing first before you can/should start writing it.

How about writing it all in forum format?

The reviews are already in:

"Cool story, bro!" - NYT

"Cliffs?" - Miami Herald

"TL;DR" - USA Today

"A moronic story written by a moron. Writing a story in forum format is for mindless automatons with no sense of humanity. Characterization was weak, plot was even weaker. Everyone knows this." - TheFlyingPig

All writing begins within the author. All publishing begins with an effective pitch. A writer will write regardless of whether he or she gets published, for the love of the story.

how about a book about a guy who orders sea monkeys from a comic book and it turns into a hot girl sea monkey and then they get it on.

Zombies!

Left 4 Dead is one of my favorite games ever, and Shawn of the dead is one of my favorite movies ever..

woooooo!

So much for suffering for your art. 😛 The great authors of the Western canon of literature probably began the exact same way.

(Funny thing, Kafka actually...)

We always see zombie movies that the zombies are always human. Why cant cows or any animal for that matter become zombie animals. Maybe a book about humans fending off a zombie hoard of (insert animal here). With a love story thrown in. Like a NZ'er falls in love with a zombie sheep 😛
