I am going nuts!

I have seen some small cabinets that have cdrom drives in them.. FREE STANDING.. I have a AMD XP machine that is driveing me crazy.
If i could put it in the other room and run keyboard mouse and monitor through the wall I would be happier than a pig in a mud pit

the question is how do I use on of these freestanding cabinets with cdroms in em to keep me from having to get my large backside up and going into the next room to change cds?

I have never seen any ide cable that are designed to go through the case of comp.. how do these things work?

option 1: 50pin SCSI, which is very reasonably priced and can have a long cable length.

IDE is limited to 18" by spec.

option 2: some USB-->IDE deal if such exists? or a USB cdrom..
but then you have pretty sh!itty bandwidth.
