Edit: After watching the video, yeah, that cop should probably be fired and have charges pressed against him. But still, I disagree with OP. Majority of cops aren't minority beating pigs. Just some, but then again, there are assholes everywhere.

Its sad that a few bad cops skew everyone's opinion. I called the local police a few weeks ago because there was a suspicious man in a vacant house next to me. The man immediately turned out the lights when I walked onto my front porch and hid up against a wall so that we wouldn't see him. The police had a 15 minute response time ( I live two blocks from the police station in a town of about 2000 people) got there and checked it out. Everything was fine, the owner of the property had a workmen in the house late and got scarred when he saw people outside for some reason. She thanked me for looking after her property though when she arrived. After all of that was cleared up, the police decided that because we were college students, we must all be high, so they started looking through our ashtray on the porch and peering through our windows trying to find marijuana. They also took each one of us aside and told us that we 'reeked of pot" and that we should let them search our house. I told the police to ah heck off. No one that was with me that night smokes pot, including myself, there has never been weed anywhere in the house. Typical pig assholes.

From what is shown on the video it does appear that the police officer stepped way over the line and it appears that the person that was beaten did nothing to deserve the beating. Without a full video that has sound there is no way to know what was said.

That said, I mostly agree with EMP. Nothing to do with Obama (did minorities think that Obama is personally in charge and responsible for each cop? I don't think so), and obviously there are problems with police brutality and corruption (to a degree; that's always the case), but I trust police more than thugs on the street. I'm not a minority in the sense of being black or hispanic, though.

No. I walk my dog 3 times a day. Everytime a squad car passes they look you up and down looking for a reason to stop you.

I've been ticketed once for not carrying the dog license this year, and stopped once for not picking up after the dog, which was a 100% bullshit stop, but you can't even argue with them -- they would literally kill you if you try and argue back.

Shit might be all hunky-dory where you are from, but here in the ghetto, the Police will not stop for a second to pump you with bullets, or beat your ass down so they could feel better about themselves.

Not to sound like a troll, but every single time a cop takes on in the head - I smile a little bit inside.

They wouldn't literally kill you for arguing. What part of NYC do you live in? Even in the worst parts, I've never heard of people being killed for arguing (except maybe for an extremely rare case). Most people know enough not to smart off to cops, but never heard in recent times people being killed for just talking with a cop.

I seriously want to know where you live that you experience this. I know NYC pretty well, and have friends from pretty much everywhere. There are definitely some bad cops out there, but most I have come in contact with are good people doing their job.

Not exactly paradise, but I think you are exaggerating or are a victim of fear and gossip if you think police brutality is as bad there as you described. I definitely would try and avoid cops whenever possible, and I wouldn't smart off to a cop in any sort of situation, but I wouldn't fear for my life discussing an issue with a cop.
