I am forced to buy my meds from Canada

I don't know if it is Obama(that's why I didn't post in politics) or just a price increase. My medicine jumped from less than $100 a month to nearly 700$ a month in the U.S.A.
I have been ordering my medicine from Canada for over a year now for $200 for a 90 day supply.
It is an older med so it shouldn't cost much but it does.

I have epilepsy medications - and if it weren't for how good our employer insurance is (either mine or my wife's) it would cost a boatload too.

Shit sucks yo. I really want to get on an HSA plan and start saving but can't from how much these medications cost 🙁

It's OK - the market is sorting it out.

This. One of the few places where I can agree the whole "Capitalism" isn't going to fix things - or make them appropriate.

If you have trouble affording drugs, go to the website for your specific medication. A lot of drug companies have "secret" subsidy programs, where they'll sell you the medication at a much lower price. They'd rather do that then have people buying generics or importing. You just have to hunt down the information yourself.

I picked that little tidbit up off Weird Medicine with Doctor Steve. Great men's health podcast.

Did you sit down and run the numbers? I went with an HSA for the past few years. We blow through the entire deductible every year (one Rx drives our costs) and it still comes out cheaper than the HMO and traditional plans my employer offers.

how do u buy meds from Canada?

if your drug is generic, switch to obamacare health insurance to get cheap US drugs?

Wife and I take a cruise to Mexico every year to get our prescription drugs. The lower price in the cost of drugs pays for the trip.

when I lived in africa I needed to have clean water shipped to me from europe. and instead of viagra I had to eat hallucinogenic frogs

poor you

I feel you man.

My son's insulin went from $130 per vial to $280 per vial.

Just remember...Obamacare got millions of Americans insurance! Even if they didn't want it and can't afford to use it.

Feel free to PM with what meds you are buying. I've become pretty good at finding discounts, grants and copay help.

No I don't take HIV meds and am not 92.
I have to take two pills four times a day. The expense adds up quick.
My doc was kind enough to give me an RX for Canadian pharmacies as the cost here is prohibitive. The medicine is over fifty years old and the prices I quoted are for the generic, no telling how much the brand name would cost.

Welcome to 10 years ago. I still get spam email from my canadian medicine purchases

actually it's not capitalism's fault here.

If there was a world government and they decided that a man can't be discriminated against when it comes to prices based on his location of residence and that there shall be no tariffs, everybody would have cheap meds (if the expiration limit on patents is short enough, it doesn't even need to be that short to correct the price gouging, in my country they rip us off compared to neighbouring ones only because they can get away with it, no other reason) and cheap netflix with a big catalog all in original language with any subtitles they want, anywhere they want.

Now that would be capitalist.

Obamacare was a giant handout to drug companies and insurance companies. But just keep thinking your doctor is overcharging you.

And, it's not just the drug companies that are doing it - pharmacies are as well. We had to pick up some insulin for our dog. At one location, they just had us pay their cost. Under $5. Then, the vet changed the type of insulin. Since "cost" was under $5 at one place, my wife figured it wouldn't be unreasonable at the local pharmacy, and just picked it up on her way home, instead of making a special trip about 20 miles each way. $150-something. She asked what the cost of the other type was (the stuff we paid less than $5 for) - $160-something.

Costco sells drugs for really cheap too.

Online pharmacies are cheaper too. Like Express Scripts or something like that.
