Actually as of midnight, it will be eleven. Boy, it hit me hard today, I almost gave in. It sucks because the doctors told me it will be ten weeks before the addiction is kicked and the withdrawal symptoms are gone. Yikes.....

You can do it!!! It's only 1680 hours. You've done 264 hours which leaves 1418. Considering you sleep 8 hours per day (assuming) that is only about 935 hours. Plus as time goes on the cravings will drop siginificantly. You are already past the toughest hump. My dad said the first week was killer and the second week was bad but manageable. After the first month his desire to have a cigarette disappeared completely.

KEEP IT UP!!! Think about how much $$$ you'll save.

I had the motivation to quit when I did the math.


$4 a pack (In Cali) x 7days = $28 a week.
$28 a week x 52 weeks in a year = $1456

If I quit smoking, I could afford to overhaul my computer system every year..!!@

even though we've never talked GirlFriday, I'd like to wish you all the best, coming from a child. My mother is a shocking smoker, and I'm seriously contemplating putting an ultimatum to her regarding smoking. Seriously though, take each day as it comes, and dont let that big 10 week figure get you down. Those 2.5 months seem very small when you compare them to just how much you could be taking off your life at a later stage. Everyone here at AT is behind you, don't give up!

I'm hoping you can stick with this. You are doing something I wish my father and his lady would do. My wife, 3 year old daughter and I will be staying with them for a couple days starting tomorrow and we're actually dreading it a little considering the the watery eyes, sore throats, and smell that we'll have from being in the house when they're smoking.

I agree you should quit for yourself, but others will enjoy you much more, barring any grouchiness of withdrawal...

BTW, My mother quit cold turkey after being put on anti-depressants. She said they didn't taste good anymore. 5 years later she is still on anti-deps and not smoking. She's much happier, too
