I am bored with Android /atotblog

I started from a Droid 1. Loved the dev and theming community, loved swapping ROM's and kernels. Half the fun was looking for stability and speed. A bit of a challenge for a device with 256 megs of Ram. The Droid got long in the tooth and I sought another device. my favorite developer team left as well. I picked up an EVO, since at the time I had to switch carriers. The problem is that the first ROM I tried makes me not want to try anything else. CM7 just worked after a couple of tweaks. Not adventurous at all. Gingerbread in all of its naked glory.
Where to next? I am going to get an ipad, so I will see what Apple is like from a day to day basis. But switching to an iPhone wont fulfill my habit of fiddling with things. At least, after the newness wears off.

Maybe I will just develop my own apps. I have a couple of ideas.

I need to get rid of my Droid X. I feel just so bored with this phone anymore it makes me sad. I hate having to install custom ROMs to get it to work how I want. I much prefer the jailbreak then add whatever from Cydia to make it act how I need it to.

I just am getting bored with the lack of polish from so many developers.

Not sure if that is on my todo list. First step is buying the damn thing.
Probably a month or two down the road. I scratched the idea of buying a used iPad 1. The sequel is too awesome.

I don't necessarily think I'm BORED with Android, I'm just tired of flashing and modding shit trying to chase that ever-elusive holy grail trinity of Speed, Battery Life and Stability.

My next phone (G2x) will probably end up with support from both CyanogenMod and TeamWhiskey, but depending on the speed/stability/batt life, I will probably just leave it stock.

There isn't? Damn, that sucks. I really miss having my iPad, and am dying for a new tablet already. Stupid PlayBook turned out to be junk IMO.

My thoughts exactly. I used to like switching ROM's, kernals, and just fiddling but anymore it's just a pain in the rear. Even with good back-up apps reinstalling all the apps takes time. I shouldn't have to go to the aftermarket to get a phone to work the way it should out of the box. Fragmentation has really started to grate my nerves as well. Not to mention battery life, no Android phones get decent battery life without hacking the crap out of them with a ROM, Kernal, and setcpu profiles.

I had intended on getting a Transform but Honeycomb is yet another half baked OS. After playing with an iPad 2 again I was amazed at the quality of the apps, not quantity, but quality. They blow Android apps out of the water. With almost no apps available for Honeycomb I am struggling to see a reason to go for it.

I'll likely pick up an iPad 2 to give iOS a shot. If I like it I'll buy an iPhone 4 when everyone dumps them or the 5 and contract up for the 6 if I like it.

I use iTunes anyways so no issue there and I use two widgets, one of which is a clock so I am not going to miss those.

See, I couldn't go with iOS simply because I use several widgets, daily, all day long. Just on my lock screen, I have a music player widget. On my home screens, I have calender, friends feed (facebook/twitter posts) and music player. It's so much easier to just swipe screens to do stuff instead of actually having to launch apps.

Plus, the notification system blows iOS away.
