And they ask me to list all prior employers in the past 5 years. They said if I omit an employer, it disqualifies my application. How can they find that out is my question?
 
Most employers use companies that provide these services... how those companies actually determine your work history isn't clear to me, but if they have any access to your tax filing history, that would be more than enough. Whether they can access that or not... I don't know.

But why is it an issue? Unless you worked for the mafia, had gaps in employment (not as bad these days), or haven't held a job longer than 6 months...
