We bought two new state of the art washing machines instead of the old hideous beasts that washed clothes for Frontier Settlers, and came with the house. Got the old ones removed, and tried to put the new ones in side by side. And I was an inch short on depth.

Got a side vent kit, stacked both on top of each other, managed to fit them within an eighth of an inch. Got a new Ikea clothes storage system to go in the available closet space. And I was an inch short on width.

Got a different system, installed everything, went to bed with my wife. And I was an inch short...

Nevermind.

FML.

The new drier's vent was an inch bigger than the old one, so the closet door wouldn't close. With the side vent kit it fit as I expected it to. With the storage system - I measured at chest level, but forgot about floor baseboards. As for the bed... fugedaboudit!
 
be careful... you keep swearing to your wife that you have six inches she is going to think she is nearsighted.
